Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Arun,
I hope you are doing well.
I am so excited to know that you are planning a trip to go camping this summer. As taking break from work and studies will help you relax, and going to the forest will help you feel stress-free and make you healthy from mental as well as physical. Moreover, don't forget to take your camera with you, as I know you love to take photos and capture memories.
However, there are some disadvantages too for a novice traveller. So, don't forget to check the weather before going there and don't touch the plants and flowers there because sometimes they are allergic as I know your skin is sensitive.
I would love to join you, but unfortunately I already have plans for next weekend. I am really happy for your first trip; do not forget to share your experience with me. Have a safe camping. I hope I will see you soon after your trip.
Best regards,
Gurchet.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The letter addresses all three bullet points in the prompt. You explain why your friend would enjoy camping, mention potential disadvantages, and clarify your availability. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation of why camping is healthy is a bit vague, and the advice regarding 'allergic' plants could be more clearly articulated. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is fully extended with more specific details or examples, which would provide a more comprehensive response to the task requirements.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a closing. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'However', and 'unfortunately' to link ideas. While the flow is generally smooth, some transitions feel a bit mechanical. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different points requested in the prompt. To improve, try to vary your linking words and ensure that the progression between sentences is more fluid, rather than relying on simple conjunctions or standard transition words at the start of every paragraph.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using words like 'novice traveller', 'sensitive', and 'capture memories'. There are some minor inaccuracies, such as 'make you healthy from mental as well as physical', which is not a natural collocation. The phrase 'allergic' is used incorrectly here; you likely meant 'irritating' or 'cause an allergic reaction'. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, it lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band. Focusing on more natural collocations and idiomatic expressions would enhance your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are some grammatical errors, such as 'As taking break from work' (missing an article) and 'make you healthy from mental as well as physical' (incorrect preposition and structure). Additionally, 'Have a safe camping' is slightly unnatural; 'Have a safe trip' or 'Enjoy your camping trip' would be better. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. You should focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles to improve your accuracy.
