Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Natasha,
I am writing to let you know about the holiday camping you are planning this summer. As, I have some place in my mind to suggest you and you will definitely enjoy this camping.
Let me tell you this place is Dream World located in Karachi, where many people specially come here for night stays camp and bonfire. However, there are some disadvantages, one is that people cannot spend time for more than two days. Also, there is limited food in this resort available, so people cannot take extra meal.
Nowadays, I am quite busy due to my hectic study and work schedule. I really would like to join in next time as due to certain reasons, I am unable to join with you this summer, but probably next time for sure.
I hope this helps, please let me know if you want any further advice.
Your friend,
Kashish

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all three bullet points of the task. You explain why your friend would enjoy camping, describe disadvantages, and state your inability to join. However, the development of these ideas is quite limited. For instance, the explanation of why your friend would enjoy it is vague, and the disadvantages (limited time and food) are mentioned briefly without much elaboration. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your ideas with more detail and personal context to make the letter feel more natural and engaging for a friend.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your points. You use some basic cohesive devices such as 'However', 'Also', and 'Nowadays'. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes a bit mechanical, and the transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs feels slightly abrupt. To improve, try to use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that your sentences are connected more smoothly to create a more cohesive narrative throughout the letter.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You use a sufficient range of vocabulary to communicate your message clearly, such as 'hectic', 'resort', and 'bonfire'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'holiday camping you are planning' (should be 'camping holiday') and 'take extra meal' (should be 'bring extra food'). The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. Focusing on natural collocations will help improve your lexical range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'As, I have some place in my mind' (incorrect punctuation and phrasing) and 'unable to join with you' (should be 'unable to join you'). There are also issues with article usage and prepositional phrases. While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on subject-verb agreement and refining your sentence structure.
