Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Natasha,
I am writing to let you know about the holiday camping you are planning this summer. As, I have a place in my mind to suggest you and you will definitely enjoy this camping.
Let me tell you this place is Dream World located in Karachi, where many people specially come here for night stays camp and bonfire. However, there are some disadvantages, one is that people cannot spend time for more than two days. Also, there is limited food availability in that resort, so people cannot take extra meals.
Nowadays, I am quite busy due to my hectic study and work schedule. I really would like to join in next time as due to certain reasons, I am unable to join with you this summer, but probably next time for sure.
I hope this helps, please let me know if you want any further advice.
Your friend,
Kashish

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points of the prompt. You explain why your friend would enjoy camping, describe disadvantages, and state your availability. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation of why your friend would enjoy it is quite brief and lacks descriptive detail about the experience of camping itself, focusing instead on a specific location. The disadvantages are mentioned but could be more clearly linked to the general experience of camping rather than just one specific resort. To improve, try to expand on your points with more personal anecdotes or specific reasons to better engage the reader.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is logically organized with a clear opening and closing. Paragraphing is used to separate the different requirements of the task, which helps the reader follow your points. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and limited. Phrases like 'Let me tell you' and 'Also' are used to transition between ideas, but the flow between sentences could be smoother. Some sentences feel slightly disjointed, such as the transition between the location description and the disadvantages. Using a wider variety of linking words would improve the overall flow and coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'hectic', 'availability', and 'resort'. However, there are some awkward collocations and word choices that slightly hinder natural expression, such as 'holiday camping you are planning' (instead of 'camping holiday') and 'place in my mind to suggest you' (instead of 'place in mind to suggest to you'). The vocabulary is generally functional and clear, but it lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band score. Focusing on more natural collocations and idiomatic expressions related to travel and holidays would be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The letter contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'As, I have a place' (incorrect comma usage), 'people specially come here' (should be 'especially'), and 'unable to join with you' (should be 'unable to join you'). There are also issues with preposition usage and sentence construction. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall accuracy. Working on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions will help improve your score.
