Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response successfully addresses all three bullet points of the prompt. You clearly explain why your friend would enjoy camping, citing their interest in nature and their athletic ability. You also provide relevant disadvantages, specifically mentioning mosquitoes and wildlife safety. Finally, you clearly state that you cannot join the trip due to prior commitments. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend, and the purpose of the letter is clear throughout. To improve, you could expand slightly on the 'why' by providing more descriptive details about the camping experience to fully develop the ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized, with each paragraph addressing a specific requirement of the prompt. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Since', 'And', and 'but' to connect ideas. However, the progression between sentences is sometimes a bit mechanical. To reach a higher band, try to use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that paragraph transitions are smoother. For example, the transition between the advice on mosquitoes and the warning about wild animals could be more fluidly integrated into a single paragraph about safety precautions.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'biophile', 'endurance', and 'abundance'. However, there are several spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'plannig', 'campingt', 'environmet', 'specics', 'forects', 'mosqutio', and 'repleient'. These errors are frequent enough to be noticeable, although they do not impede the overall meaning of your message. To improve, focus on proofreading your work to catch these common spelling mistakes and try to incorporate more precise collocations to enhance the natural flow of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'Since you are an athlete it will check your physical strength'. There are several grammatical slips, including punctuation errors (e.g., unnecessary spaces before commas) and minor errors in article usage and verb agreement (e.g., 'your are plannig', 'in there nature habitat'). While these errors are present, they do not cause confusion for the reader. To improve, focus on consistent punctuation and subject-verb agreement, and try to vary your sentence structure further to demonstrate greater control over complex forms.
