Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Rose,
Hope you are doing well! Glad to know that you are planning a camping holiday in this summer.
I am sure you would have fun during camping as I know this is your first time experience and you will enjoy the beautiful nature. This adventure will gives you the opportunity to stay without basic facilities likely you will spend a night in a tent and you can cook by yourself if you wish. These small things makes people happy.
Unfortunately, there would not be network available at some locations and you may find it difficult to locate. There are also some possibilities of wild animals so, you have to be careful.
I have nothing to do this summer and I don't mind to join you at camping. If you want I will definitely come and we both would have some quality time to spend and have fun.
Let me know if you want me to come then I will plan accordingly.
Best Regards,
Deep

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You explained why your friend would enjoy camping, identified potential disadvantages like lack of network and wildlife, and clearly stated your willingness to join. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend, and the purpose is clear throughout. To improve, you could expand slightly on the 'why'—for example, by mentioning specific benefits of nature or the relaxation it provides—to ensure the ideas are fully developed rather than just mentioned. Overall, the response is well-structured and meets the requirements of the task effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs for each point, and a concluding sentence. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different topics. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Unfortunately' and 'There are also', which help the flow of ideas. However, the transition between sentences could be smoother in some places. For instance, the second paragraph feels a bit disjointed. Using a wider variety of linking words or phrases to connect your ideas more fluidly would help elevate this score. Overall, the progression of ideas is easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly. Phrases like 'quality time' and 'stay without basic facilities' are relevant to the topic. However, there are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. For example, 'stay without basic facilities' is understandable but slightly unnatural; 'roughing it' or 'living without modern conveniences' would be more idiomatic. Additionally, 'nothing to do' is a bit informal. Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise adjectives and topic-specific collocations would demonstrate a higher level of lexical control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text. For example, 'This adventure will gives you' should be 'will give you', and 'These small things makes people happy' should be 'make'. Additionally, 'I don't mind to join you' is better phrased as 'I don't mind joining you'. These errors are frequent enough to prevent a higher band score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and verb patterns will help improve your accuracy significantly.
