Student answer (Band 7.5)
Dear Anil,
I hope you're doing very well. I am glad you asked for my advice on the camping holiday you have planned for this summer.
I believe you'd really enjoy this holday as it is your first time going for such an adventurous activity. You're always talking about how stressful work has been lately. This holiday will not only help you experience the excitement of camping but also act as a cathartic outlet for stress. Spending time outdoors while being surrounded by nature is amazing.
However, such holidays are not like other usual holdays where we check-in in a hotel and have access to all the basic amenities. While camping, you have to set up your own camp and carry all essential supplies with you. The weather could be upredictable and you might encounter some poisonous plants and wild animals.
Guess what! I'd love to come along if you want to have me. As I have previous experience, I can guide you on the do's and don't's of camping. Kindly share the details with me so that I can join you on the starting point on the day of camping.
Looking forward to meeting you soon.
Best wishes,
Rashpal

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 8.0
You have addressed all three bullet points of the task effectively. You clearly explained why your friend would enjoy camping, highlighted relevant disadvantages such as the lack of amenities and potential environmental hazards, and confirmed your interest in joining the trip. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend, and the purpose of the letter is clear from the beginning. The ideas are well-developed and relevant, providing a balanced perspective that meets the requirements of the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 8.0
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs for each point, and a natural closing. Paragraphing is used effectively to separate different ideas. You use cohesive devices such as 'However', 'While', and 'As' to link your sentences and ideas smoothly. The progression of ideas is easy to follow, and the relationship between the sentences is clear throughout the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 7.0
You demonstrate a good range of vocabulary appropriate for this informal task. Phrases like 'cathartic outlet for stress' and 'basic amenities' are used effectively. There are a few minor spelling errors, such as 'holday' (holiday) and 'upredictable' (unpredictable), but these do not impede communication. The vocabulary is sufficient to convey your message with precision and style.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures with generally good control. There are a few minor grammatical slips, such as 'join you on the starting point' (should be 'at') and 'do's and don't's' (the apostrophes are unnecessary). However, these errors are infrequent and do not interfere with the clarity of your writing. The majority of your sentences are error-free, and you show a good command of punctuation and verb tenses.
