Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses all three bullet points, but the development is quite limited. You explain why your friend might enjoy camping by mentioning Saputara, but the description of disadvantages is entirely missing from your letter. Furthermore, you do not clearly state whether you would like to join your friend, which is a specific requirement of the prompt. The tone is informal, which is appropriate for a letter to a friend, but the content lacks the necessary detail to fully satisfy the task requirements. To improve, ensure you dedicate a paragraph to each bullet point provided in the instructions.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The letter lacks clear paragraphing, which makes it difficult to follow the progression of ideas. While there is a basic attempt to organize the content, the lack of transition words and the informal, run-on sentence structure hinder the flow. Cohesive devices are largely absent, and the referencing is sometimes unclear, such as when you mention 'they' without a clear antecedent. To improve, use clear paragraph breaks for each main point and incorporate linking words like 'however', 'furthermore', and 'consequently' to connect your ideas more logically.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is quite basic and repetitive, with several spelling errors that occasionally impede communication, such as 'tracking' (likely meaning trekking), 'ganecy' (agency), 'contac' (contact), and 'trake' (trek). You rely on simple, everyday language and struggle with accurate word choice. To reach a higher band, you should focus on using more precise vocabulary related to travel and outdoor activities, and pay closer attention to spelling. Expanding your range of adjectives and verbs will help you express your ideas with more clarity and sophistication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with verb tense consistency ('last month i was going saputara'), subject-verb agreement, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or run-on, and there is a lack of complex sentence structures. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing capital letters at the start of sentences and improper spacing. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring every sentence has a clear subject and verb, and proofreading for common errors like missing articles and incorrect verb forms.
