Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Glorie,
I hope you are doing well. I am happy to hear that you are thinking about going on camping for the first time. I hope you are really enjoy it. Because it is great way to spend holidays and enjoy to live with nature. You will also get chance to hike, enjoy scenery and do campfire. Which could be a memorable experience.
However, doing camping may have few disadvantages. Weather can be unpredictable. Such as Heavy raining, heatwaves, cold or strong wind. So just check the weather-index before the network can not be reached. In addition, sleeping in tent is not always easy, especially if you are not used to it. Also you have to prepare meals with out any modern conveniences.
As for me, I would be grateful to go out with you. Many times I did a camping. However I am comfortable to do things. I love to help you if you have any concern. I am figuring out the games and activity we will do during camping. I’m sure we would spending a fantastic time together.
Let me know any suggestions do you have. I can’t wait to meet you soon.
Best wishes,
Nisha Patel.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: explaining why your friend would enjoy camping, describing the disadvantages, and confirming your interest in joining. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend. However, some ideas are slightly underdeveloped. For instance, while you mention that weather can be unpredictable, you could have elaborated more on how to mitigate these issues beyond just checking a weather index. The response is clear and fulfills the requirements of the task effectively, maintaining a consistent focus throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each addressing a specific part of the prompt. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'However', 'In addition', and 'As for me' to transition between ideas. While the flow is generally good, some sentences are slightly disjointed, such as 'Which could be a memorable experience', which is a sentence fragment. Improving the connection between sentences would enhance the overall flow. Overall, the progression of ideas is easy to follow, and the paragraphing is appropriate for a letter format.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for this task, using terms like 'unpredictable', 'memorable experience', and 'modern conveniences'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'going on camping' (should be 'going camping') and 'enjoy to live with nature' (should be 'enjoy living in nature'). While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, it lacks the variety and precision required for a higher band score. Attempting to use more varied collocations would improve your score in this area.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally affect the clarity of your writing. Examples include 'I hope you are really enjoy it' (should be 'I hope you really enjoy it') and 'Many times I did a camping' (should be 'I have been camping many times'). Additionally, there are issues with verb tense and article usage. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they are frequent enough to limit the score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and sentence structure will help.
