Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Rahul,
I hope you are doing well, I am really excited that you finally made mind about camping during his holidays .
I believe that camping demands a minimum of 3 days to fully explore and gain a unique experience . I suggest a weekend would be a perfect time to experience it , While considering the presence of people . I am sure you would definitely enjoy the atmosphere and exposure of diverse biodiversity along with natural landscape.
However be careful with a couple of things , do not forget to carry a mosquito net and candle for light . It would be helpful if you carry extra clothes and footwear as weather remains unpredictable . One more thing do not try to expect the same convenience as home.
Unfortunately , I would not be available on that day as i have some essential work at the workplace . We could make a plan on some other days . I hope you will enjoy your trip .
Warm regards ,
Sukhpal,

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You explained why your friend would enjoy camping, described potential disadvantages, and clearly stated your inability to join them. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For example, the explanation of why they would enjoy it is quite brief, and the advice regarding disadvantages could be more detailed to fully satisfy the 'extended and supported' requirement of higher bands. Nevertheless, the response is relevant and covers all parts of the task effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is logically organized with clear paragraphing for each point. You use some cohesive devices such as 'However' and 'Unfortunately' to transition between ideas. However, there are some issues with referencing and flow; for instance, the phrase 'during his holidays' is confusing as you are writing to Rahul, and the transition 'While considering the presence of people' is somewhat disjointed and unclear in its meaning. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that pronouns clearly refer back to the intended subjects would enhance the overall flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'biodiversity', 'natural landscape', and 'unpredictable'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'made mind' instead of 'made up your mind' and 'exposure of diverse biodiversity', which is slightly unnatural. While you successfully communicate your message, the vocabulary is generally functional rather than sophisticated. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise collocations and idiomatic expressions suitable for an informal letter.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'made mind about camping during his holidays' (incorrect pronoun 'his' instead of 'your') and 'do not try to expect' (awkward phrasing). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before commas and periods. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall accuracy. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct pronoun usage will help improve your score.
