Student answer (Band 7.0)
Dear Anjali,
I hope you are doing well. I am writing this letter to address all of your queries about camping.
I believe that camping would be a perfect holiday as I will serve as a chance to connect with the nature as well as getting rid of the hectic schedule. It will be great chance to experience the wonders of nature. Staying in a calm natural location will work like a therapy and you will feel quiet relaxed and fresh. Moreover, the adventure like rock climbing are going to fill you with a lot of courage and joy.
However, there are certain things to take care about. First, choosing a camp site needs a well-thought location, which would be safe and camping friendly. Secondly, keep in mind that it demands a lot of efforts to set up and pack the camping arrangements, which can be annoying and frustrating if not planned ahead of the time. Lastly, one must be aware of the surroundings at all times as wild can approach and harm you.
Actually, I was already planning for camping this summer and I think it would be amazing if we can go together as it will much easier and be a chance to spend some time with you. Let me know which place you are thinking about along with your expected holiday dates so that planning can be quick.
I will look forward to hearing from you and I hope to see you soon.
Kind Regards,
HK.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You clearly explained the benefits of camping, provided relevant disadvantages such as the effort required for setup and safety concerns, and confirmed your interest in joining your friend. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend, and the purpose is clear throughout. To reach a higher band, ensure that your ideas are slightly more developed; for instance, when mentioning 'wild' animals, you could briefly explain how to mitigate that risk to provide more depth to your advice.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized with clear paragraphing. Each paragraph focuses on a specific aspect of the task, which helps the reader follow your argument easily. You use some cohesive devices like 'Moreover', 'However', and 'Firstly' to link your ideas. To improve, try to vary your transition words further, as some of the current ones are quite standard. Additionally, ensure that referencing is always precise; for example, in the second paragraph, 'wild' is used as a noun, which is slightly awkward and affects the flow of the sentence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a good range of vocabulary, such as 'hectic schedule', 'well-thought', and 'annoying and frustrating'. However, there are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. For example, 'connect with the nature' should be 'connect with nature', and 'wild can approach' is not a natural way to refer to wildlife. You also used 'quiet relaxed' instead of 'quite relaxed'. While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the vocabulary from reaching a higher band of sophistication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures effectively. There are some grammatical slips, such as 'I will serve as a chance' (should be 'it will serve') and 'the adventure like rock climbing are' (should be 'is'). Additionally, 'if we can go together' is acceptable, but 'if we could go together' would be more grammatically precise in this context. Despite these occasional errors, your meaning is always clear, and the grammar does not hinder the reader's understanding of your message.
