Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Muskan,
Hope you are doing well. I'm really excited to hear about that you are planning a camping holiday for the first time this summer. I really believe you would love this because you are always very fond of spending time outdoors and try some activities and camping is the best way to get rid of everyday boring routine. You can explore different activities such as, campfire, natural scenary, go for hiking and spend some quality time with your friends.
However, you may have to face some difficulties as weather can be unpredictable and rain makes the camping a little bit uncomfortable. Also, you have to deal with some insects and limited bathrooms and sleeping in tent can be challenging for you as a first-time camper. So, I would recommened you to check the weather forecast and keep the comfortable clothes and other essential equipments that can be needed.
I would love to go with you on camping this summer. We will explore everything together and create some wonderful memories. We will choose an appropriate campsite and plan everthing

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have addressed all three bullet points of the task effectively. You explained why your friend would enjoy camping, provided relevant disadvantages, and clearly stated your willingness to join them. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend, being informal and friendly. The ideas are well-developed, though the conclusion is slightly abrupt and incomplete, as the final sentence cuts off. To reach a higher band, ensure that all sentences are fully completed to provide a sense of closure to the letter. Overall, the response is relevant and covers all requirements of the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each focusing on one of the bullet points. You use some cohesive devices such as 'However', 'Also', and 'So' to link your ideas. While the flow is generally good, the transition between ideas could be smoother. The final paragraph is unfinished, which affects the overall coherence of the ending. To improve, ensure you use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that every paragraph has a clear, complete conclusion. The paragraphing is appropriate for a letter format.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'unpredictable', 'essential', and 'challenging'. There are some minor errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'scenary' (scenery), 'recommened' (recommended), and 'equipments' (equipment is an uncountable noun). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precision. To improve, focus on the correct usage of uncountable nouns and common spelling patterns. Incorporating more descriptive adjectives or idiomatic expressions would help elevate your lexical range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are some grammatical slips, such as 'hear about that you are planning' (should be 'hear that you are planning') and 'try some activities' (should be 'trying some activities'). Punctuation is generally functional, though the final sentence is incomplete. The majority of your sentences are clear, and the errors do not cause difficulty for the reader. To improve, practice complex sentence structures like conditional clauses (e.g., 'If we go, we will...') and ensure consistent verb tense usage.
