Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Taran,
Hope you`re doing Awesome! I`ve been thinking about you to shoot a message to catch up. It`s a great options for you to go for a camping trip after a hectic schedule of study. I`m pretty sure you would love this as you`re nature lover person. It would be a great experience for you to enjoy fresh morning in forest.
I would like to suggest some pin-points for camping holidays as it`s your first time. I don`t forget to take extra blanket and lighting such as candle or torch as sometimes you may have to walk a lot in dark to find suitable spot for camping. And Extra blanket can help you to use as a soft mattress in group camping.
Definitly, I would love to go with you as it`s being long time to spend quality time together. Luckily, We would have again chance to create some more memories.
Take care buddy and a lots of love and hug!
Warm regards,
Khushdeep

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points of the task. You explained why your friend would enjoy camping, provided some practical advice (which serves as the 'disadvantages' or challenges of camping), and confirmed your willingness to join. However, the response is slightly underdeveloped. The second bullet point asks for 'disadvantages,' but you provided advice on what to pack instead of discussing the potential downsides of camping, such as lack of comfort, unpredictable weather, or the need to set up equipment. To improve, ensure you directly address the specific requirements of the prompt rather than pivoting to advice.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter follows a logical structure with a clear opening and closing. Paragraphing is used to separate the different points, which helps the reader follow your ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat limited and occasionally mechanical. For example, the transition between the introduction and the advice section is abrupt. Using more varied linking words or phrases (e.g., 'Furthermore,' 'On the other hand,' 'Regarding your concerns') would improve the flow and help connect your ideas more naturally throughout the letter.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for this task, allowing you to communicate your message clearly. You use some informal, friendly language appropriate for a letter to a friend, such as 'hectic schedule' and 'quality time.' However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'nature lover person' (should be 'nature lover') and 'pin-points' (which is not the standard term for advice or tips). Expanding your range of descriptive adjectives and using more precise collocations would help you reach a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is always clear, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation. Examples include 'It`s a great options' (subject-verb agreement), 'I don`t forget to take' (incorrect modal usage), and 'it`s being long time' (incorrect tense). Additionally, the use of backticks instead of standard apostrophes is a consistent punctuation error. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and consistent use of verb tenses, and ensure you use standard apostrophes for contractions.
