Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear tania,

I would like to tell you that I found a camping site in algonquin area, where one of my friend visited last week. He was giving me a glimps of the area where we can find lot of scienic views and ample amenities for camping and they were offering tents and food as well on a reasonable price.

He suggested me to bring some raincoats and coats for severe weather as sometimes there is changing unexpectedly, so we have to prepare for that. This is the only disadvantage he discussed with me about the area.

I'm requesting you to plan together a camping to algonquin area this summer. We will bring some of my friends too as they were also exited after hearing about the site view and camping adventures. Let me know if are looking for more information regarding the camping site.

Best regards,

Mahamad Sadik vahora

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

You have addressed all three bullet points of the task. You explained why your friend would enjoy the trip by mentioning scenic views and amenities, described the disadvantage of unpredictable weather, and clearly stated your desire to join. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation of why your friend would enjoy it is brief and relies on a friend's experience rather than your own perspective. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your ideas with more detail and personal flair, ensuring the tone is consistently appropriate for a letter to a friend.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your points. You use some basic cohesive devices like 'however' or 'so', but the flow between sentences is sometimes a bit mechanical. For example, the transition between the description of the site and the advice about the weather could be smoother. The use of referencing is generally clear, but the overall structure could benefit from a wider range of linking words to connect your ideas more naturally and improve the logical progression of the letter.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey your message, such as 'scenic views' and 'ample amenities'. However, there are several spelling errors ('glimps', 'scienic', 'exited') and some awkward word choices, such as 'plan together a camping' and 'reasonable price' (usually 'at a reasonable price'). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they indicate a need for more careful proofreading and a wider variety of precise collocations to move into a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that affect the accuracy of your writing. Examples include 'one of my friend visited' (should be 'friends'), 'there is changing unexpectedly' (should be 'the weather changes'), and 'if are looking' (missing subject 'you'). While these errors rarely impede communication, they are frequent enough to keep the score in the mid-range. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles and prepositions.
