Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Mizna,
I have receive your letter regarding going on summer vacation to blue mountain valley. I think you should go for camping as this place gives you an amazing tour to different adventurous spots.
Well, this breathtaking camping site requires and advance planning. Beginning from pay in advance for activities to do at this site, plus you need some safety equipment for slip and trip. But this can be better managed if you have already prepared yourself ahead of the time.
As you know that my driving exam is approaching next weekend, it would not possible to join you for this time. I will try my best to plan next time well in advance , so that we both can spend our quality time together, and it is been while since we last met on our graduation ceremony at our university.
Enjoy your trip at the fullest, and if you need any help please call me.
Warm wishes,
Hamza

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points required by the prompt. You explain why your friend would enjoy camping, mention potential disadvantages like the need for advance planning and safety equipment, and clearly state that you cannot join the trip due to a driving exam. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat brief. For instance, the 'disadvantages' section could be expanded with more specific examples of the challenges of camping to better demonstrate your ability to elaborate on points. Overall, the response is relevant and fulfills the requirements of the task effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a closing. Each paragraph focuses on a specific aspect of the prompt. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Well,' 'Beginning from,' and 'As you know that,' which help the flow of ideas. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical or abrupt, such as the start of the second paragraph. To improve, ensure that sentences within paragraphs are more smoothly linked to create a more natural progression of thought. Paragraphing is used correctly, which helps the reader follow your message easily.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using phrases like 'breathtaking camping site' and 'quality time.' There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'receive your letter' (should be 'received') and 'enjoy your trip at the fullest' (should be 'to the fullest'). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise control over idiomatic expressions. You have attempted to use some descriptive language, which is positive, but expanding your range of topic-specific vocabulary would help you reach a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The letter contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'I have receive' (should be 'received'), 'it would not possible' (missing 'be'), and 'it is been while' (should be 'it has been a while'). These errors are frequent enough to be noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of auxiliary verbs. Increasing the variety of complex sentence structures while ensuring accuracy will help you achieve a higher score in this criterion.
