Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: explaining why your friend would enjoy camping, describing disadvantages, and confirming your interest in joining. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For example, when describing the disadvantages, you mention 'less of oxygen' at high altitudes, which is a bit vague and scientifically inaccurate for Banff. To improve, try to elaborate more on the 'why' behind your suggestions to provide a more comprehensive response. Overall, you have fulfilled the requirements of the task effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is logically organized, with each paragraph focusing on a specific part of the prompt. You use some cohesive devices like 'In addition to this' and 'Overall', which help the flow of information. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and the paragraphing could be improved by separating the description of the location from the advice on activities. Additionally, some sentences are fragmented, such as 'Moraine Lake.', which should be connected to the previous sentence to improve the flow of ideas. Improving the use of linking words will help your writing feel more natural.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to describe the location and activities clearly. You use some descriptive phrases like 'amazing scenic beauty' and 'picnic spots'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'tracking area' (which should be 'hiking trail') and 'click beautiful pictures' (which is slightly informal; 'take photographs' is more standard). To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise vocabulary related to travel and nature, and be careful with collocations to ensure your word choices sound natural to a native speaker.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'I would suggest you to go Banff' (should be 'I would suggest going to Banff'), 'It is one and a half hour' (should be 'It is an hour and a half'), and 'it will a good experience' (missing the verb 'be'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with sentence fragments. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and ensure that your complex sentences are constructed accurately. Proofreading for small missing words like articles and auxiliary verbs will significantly improve your score.
