Student answer (Band 6.0)

Hello Manoj,

I hope you are doing great. I found your letter that you have enrolled in summer holidays camps which long-lasting for 7 days. I told you some important thigs which you should keep in your mind.

As far I know you, the first time Summer camping will be memorable experience for you. As the summer camp includes living in tent in forest, tracking , enjoying scenery and wildlife as well. Also, you are photoholic person so you can capture number of pictures of nature scenes.

Along with that, certain things you need to keep in mind like low access to internet and network connections. So, you phone would not working for calling and so on. additionally, you should keep some medicines with you. And always try to be in group to be safe from unwanted situations.

Sorry, I cannot able to come with you because I have to attend my cousin's wedding. I have been waiting for his wedding since last year. I really would like to come with you but I have not that much time to arrange 7 days camp. But I promise you that we will be go any other camp in next summer vacation.

Take care and be safe.

Your regards,

Sujan

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses all three bullet points of the prompt. You explain why your friend would enjoy the trip, mention potential drawbacks like poor connectivity and safety, and clearly state that you cannot join. The ideas are relevant and the tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat basic. For instance, the advice about safety could be more specific, and the explanation of why you cannot attend is a bit repetitive. To reach a higher band, try to expand on your points with more descriptive detail or personal anecdotes to make the letter feel more natural and engaging.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each focusing on a specific part of the prompt. You use some cohesive devices such as 'As far as I know', 'Along with that', and 'Additionally'. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'I told you some important thigs which you should keep in your mind'. The referencing is generally clear, but the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to connect your ideas more fluidly rather than relying on simple sentence structures.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'memorable experience', 'wildlife', and 'unwanted situations'. There are some noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'photoholic person' (which is not standard English) and 'I cannot able to come'. Spelling errors like 'thigs' and 'tracking' (when you likely meant 'trekking') also occur. While these errors do not impede communication, they limit the precision of your writing. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and checking your spelling of everyday words.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'I found your letter that you have enrolled' (should be 'I heard that you have enrolled'), 'As far I know you' (missing 'as'), 'you phone would not working' (should be 'your phone would not be working'), and 'we will be go' (should be 'we will go'). These errors are frequent, though they rarely prevent the reader from understanding your message. Increasing your control over verb tenses and auxiliary verbs will help improve your score significantly.
