Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Friend,

I would like to suggest some advice for a camping as I heard that your group has planning for this summer holidays.

Firstly, I knew that your friend circle is going at a Banff national park for a camp night. As I know much about the place your whole group would surely enjoy there. Because that place has an everything like lakes, dark forest and waterfalls.

Apart from that the Banff national park is a popular area for a sightings of bears and wolfs. Although the park has all safety precautions, sometimes many person finds an interactions with wild animals.

Moreover, if you have any other plans for a camping then you should definetly think about that as its all about the fun. Additionally, If you choose this suggested place of mine then you can reach to me whenever you get a time.

Lastly, do not forget to replay me back. Hope you all enjoy on your summer vacation. "cheers to holidays"

Kind regards,

Yash

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: explaining why your friend would enjoy camping, describing disadvantages, and expressing your interest in joining them. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, while you mention the beauty of Banff, the description of the disadvantages (wildlife) is brief and lacks depth. To improve, try to expand on your points with more specific details or personal anecdotes. The tone is generally appropriate for a letter to a friend, although the opening is slightly awkward. Overall, you have fulfilled the requirements of the task, but the content could be more fully developed to reach a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Apart from that', and 'Moreover' to link your points. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as 'Apart from that the Banff national park is a popular area'. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that your sentences connect logically to one another rather than just listing points.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey your message, but there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors. For example, 'has planning' should be 'is planning', 'a sightings' is incorrect, and 'replay me back' should be 'reply to me'. You also use 'an everything' incorrectly. While your meaning is generally clear, these errors indicate a limited control over more complex or precise vocabulary. To improve, try to learn common collocations and pay closer attention to articles and pluralization when using nouns.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('many person finds'), incorrect article usage ('a camping', 'a Banff national park'), and preposition errors ('reach to me'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles, before attempting more complex structures. Proofreading for these common slips would significantly improve your score.
