Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers all three bullet points required in the prompt. You successfully explain why your friend would enjoy camping, mentioning being surrounded by nature and team activities, describe possible disadvantages such as lack of mobile network and sudden rain affecting hikes, and clearly state that you are unable to join due to work commitments. All parts of the task are addressed with relevant and clear ideas. The tone is appropriate for a friendly letter. However, some ideas, such as the food issue and the risk of getting sick, are slightly brief and could be extended further to fully develop the response. Overall, the requirements of the task have been met effectively, earning a solid Band 6.5 score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter maintains a logical overall arrangement with a clear beginning and ending. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to separate different aspects of the letter, such as the reasons for enjoying camping, the drawbacks, and your inability to attend. Cohesive devices are used adequately, though some connections feel slightly mechanical or repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'and' or 'you will'. Referencing is generally clear, but the flow could be smoother between sentences in the third paragraph regarding the disadvantages. Overall, the organization is coherent and easy to follow, fitting the Band 6.0 descriptors well.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your message clearly. You attempted some less common phrases like 'surrounded by nature', 'memorable experience', and 'work commitments'. However, there are some noticeable vocabulary and word choice errors, such as 'holiday camping' instead of 'camping holiday', and the phrase 'food also a big issue promble their', which contains spelling and structural mistakes. Despite these occasional inaccuracies, communication is not impeded, and the range is sufficient to meet the basic demands of the task, earning a Band 6.0 score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence forms throughout the letter, such as 'I think you will enjoy your camping holiday because there are so many things to do...' There are several grammatical errors and punctuation slips, including lowercase letters at the start of sentences ('i have important meetings'), missing capitalization, and awkward phrasing like 'food also a big issue promble their.' However, these errors do not impede overall communication. Your control over basic structures is reasonably good, and you make successful attempts at complex sentences, placing this response firmly in the Band 6.0 category.
