Student answer (Band 7.0)
Dear Jay,
Hopefully, you and your wife are doing well. My apologies for not being in touch, but I am making it up via this letter; at least I hope so.
I think you would really enjoy this summer holiday because it is the best way to take a break from a busy routine and explore nature's beauty. You can enjoy activities such as hiking, tracking, and cooking outside.
However, camping can have some disadvantages too. You can not predict the weather. Sometimes you have to face heavy rain, wind, and storms, which can make your camping experience worse. Therefore, I suggest you take some clother which can protect you from these kinds of situations.
I would definitely like to come with you this summer for the camp. It would be a great time to spend time together after the ages and have fun.
I am hoping this letter finds you well. Do get back to me whenever you get a chance. Talk to you soon.
Yours lovingly,
Kevin

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 8.0
You successfully covered all parts of the bullet points required in the prompt. You clearly explained why your friend would enjoy a camping holiday by mentioning the break from routine and outdoor activities such as 'hiking, tracking, and cooking outside'. You also described the possible disadvantages, noting unpredictable weather like 'heavy rain, wind, and storms'. Finally, you clearly stated your desire to join your friend by writing, 'I would definitely like to come with you this summer for the camp'. The tone is appropriately friendly and personal for a General Training letter. All requirements of the task have been fully and effectively addressed, showing a clear awareness of the purpose and target reader.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
Your letter has a clear logical organization and progression throughout. You used appropriate paragraphing to separate your greetings, the reasons for enjoyment, the disadvantages, your desire to join, and the closing remarks. Cohesive devices such as 'However', 'Therefore', and 'Finally' are used reasonably well to connect your ideas. While some transitions are a bit simple, the overall arrangement is coherent, easy to follow, and the relationship between sentences is clear. The referencing throughout the letter is well-managed and never confusing to the reader.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You used a sufficient range of vocabulary with some flexibility and precision to discuss camping, nature, and weather. Phrases like 'busy routine', 'nature's beauty', and 'unpredictable weather' demonstrate good control. However, there are a few minor lexical inaccuracies or awkward collocations, such as using 'tracking' instead of 'trekking', and spelling 'clother' instead of 'clothes'. Additionally, the phrase 'after the ages' is non-standard and should be 'after ages' or 'after all this time'. Despite these minor slips, your vocabulary is adequate to convey your message clearly and naturally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You demonstrated a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing relative clauses such as 'which can make your camping experience worse' and 'which can protect you'. There are some grammatical and mechanical errors present, such as 'You can not predict' (cannot is preferred) and the typo 'clother'. Furthermore, the phrase 'I am hoping this letter finds you well' at the end of the letter is slightly repetitive given your opening remarks. However, these errors do not impede communication, and the majority of your sentences are clear and grammatically sound.
