Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sai,
Congratulations on your completion of graduation. I am so happy for you. When coming to the camping holiday don't be too panic everything will be fine. Trust me you will gonna have a unique experience in your whole life.
The hamilton park which you choosed is one of the best camping spot in canada. Full of greenary with a lake beside and for the signals you need to travel a KM. Most of the time you stay away from phone, it gives an opportunity to rediscover yourself. This trip help you to get refresh and to have a great start for your masters. You may face challenges staying without light at nighttime, limited washrooms and it will be very tough to get sleep with mosquitoes.
Let me know your experience once you are back from the trip. Definitely you will love it. Next time we will plan the camping together for a longer period.
Don't forget to carry all the camping stuff especially the tent, chair and mosquito cream.
with love,
Pranusha

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response successfully covers all the bullet points outlined in the task instructions. First, the writer explains why Sai would enjoy a camping holiday by mentioning the scenic beauty of Hamilton Park, the lack of mobile signals, and the opportunity to disconnect and rediscover oneself, as seen in the phrase "most of the time you stay away from phone, it gives an opportunity to rediscover yourself." Second, the disadvantages are clearly described, including the lack of electricity at night, limited washrooms, and mosquitoes. Finally, the writer addresses the third bullet point by stating their intention to join Sai next time, noting "Next time we will plan the camping together for a longer period." The tone is appropriately friendly and informal for a general letter. All parts are well covered.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is organised logically into paragraphs that move from congratulations and encouragement to the reasons for enjoying camping, possible disadvantages, future plans, and finally practical packing tips. Cohesive devices are used adequately, such as "especially" and "once you are back." However, paragraphing is a bit disjointed in places, and some transitions feel slightly abrupt, such as moving from the disadvantages directly into the sign-off paragraph without a smoother connection. Referencing is generally clear, though occasional mechanical transitions keep the score at this level.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The writer uses an adequate range of vocabulary suitable for an informal letter, including terms like "unique experience," "greenary" (though misspelled as greenery), and "mosquito cream." There are some minor word-choice and spelling errors, such as "choosed" instead of chose, "greenary" instead of greenery, and "don't be too panic" instead of panicked. Less common lexical items are attempted, but occasional inaccuracies in collocation and word form prevent a higher band. Overall, the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the intended message clearly without impeding communication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms. Examples of complex structures include "The hamilton park which you choosed is one of the best camping spot in canada." However, there are noticeable grammatical errors throughout the text, such as missing articles ("one of the best camping spot"), incorrect verb forms ("you will gonna have"), punctuation slips, and capitalization errors ("hamilton park", "canada"). While these errors do not impede overall communication, they occur frequently enough to demonstrate limited control over more complex grammatical structures, placing the response firmly in the band 6 category.
