Dear Simran,

I hope you are doing well. It's been ages since I met you. I am delighted you seek mu advice to going on a compaing holiday.

I think you should go on holiday because it would be a great opportunity for you to explore something different from their comfort zone. You will get a chance to interact with numerous people who came from different background and learn their cultures. In addition, you will do a plethora of activities over there such as paraglinding, stay in a tent that will give you a wonderful experience for lifetime.

Well, there are a few disadvantages that you have to keep in mind before going there like in hill stations it is quite common to see a rain everyday due to in various areas you will able to see landslides and will have to face few obstacles like shortage of food and accomodations. Moreover, in campsite you will not get kitchen, you have to preapre meal outside the tent in a open space.

I strongly recommend you to go comping with your peers. However, it will open ample of doors that will help you in future. For example you can learn various skills such as confidence, leadership and problem solving that will help you to become an independent person.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The candidate has successfully addressed all parts of the letter prompt. The response explains why the friend would enjoy a camping holiday, noting the opportunity to escape comfort zones and experience outdoor activities like paragliding and tent stays. It also describes potential disadvantages, such as rain in hill stations, landslides, and food or accommodation shortages. Furthermore, the letter clearly states the writer's perspective on whether to go camping together, recommending camping with peers instead. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend, and the purpose is clear throughout. Minor awkwardness in phrasing does not prevent the full coverage of the bullet points.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is logically organised with a clear beginning, middle, and end, following standard informal letter conventions. Paragraphing is used to separate different ideas, such as the benefits of camping, the disadvantages, and the final recommendation. Cohesive devices are employed, although some transitions feel slightly mechanical or are misused, such as 'Well, there are a few disadvantages' and 'Moreover'. Pronoun referencing occasionally becomes unclear, for instance when switching between 'you' and 'their' in the phrase 'from their comfort zone'. Nevertheless, there is a clear logical progression throughout the writing that allows the reader to follow easily.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The candidate demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary suitable for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'plethora of activities', 'independent person', and 'ample of doors'. However, there are noticeable word choice and collocation errors, as well as spelling mistakes, such as 'mu' instead of 'my', 'compaing' instead of 'camping', 'paraglinding', 'accomodations', and 'preapre'. Despite these inaccuracies, the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the intended message without heavily impeding communication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including relative clauses and conditional structures, such as 'I think you should go on holiday because it would be a great opportunity...' and 'that will help you to become an independent person'. However, there are frequent grammatical errors and prepositional awkwardnesses, such as 'seek mu advice to going', 'who came from different background', 'see a rain everyday due to in various areas', and 'in open space'. While these errors occasionally cause the reader some hesitation, they do not severely impede overall comprehension.
