Student answer (Band 7.0)
Dear Suman,
I hope you and your family are doing great. I felt overjoyed after hearing that you're planing to do camping for the first time during your summer holidays.
I really think that it would be a great fun for you, because you certainly like to spend time close to the nature. Thus, I think a forest camping would be an excellent option, as you can not only learn about the wildlife there but can also adventure some hidden gems of the nature. From my perspective, it would be a memorable experience.
I want to suggest you that first check about all the rules and regulations on internet related to the camping in a forest. Also make sure if the place is safe for camping or not, and esure that you have all required permissions. Sometimes, it becomes arduous to contact someone in difficult situations because of the lack of internet connections at camping sites. Therefore, you need to take care of all safety procedures.
I would also want to join you for this thrilling adventure of life. It will be so much fun, and we will spend some time together. Just message m about the location that you will choose for camping. If you need any euipment or my help to make all arrangements, feel free to contact me any time.
Hoping to see you soon.
Best regards,
Harpreet.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The response successfully covers all parts of the prompt in a natural and friendly tone appropriate for a letter to a friend. You clearly explain why your friend would enjoy camping, such as the love for nature and discovering hidden gems, fulfilling the first bullet point. You also cover the disadvantages well by warning about rules, safety, and the lack of internet connection, addressing the second bullet point. Finally, you clearly state your desire to join your friend on the trip and offer assistance with equipment, which adequately addresses the third bullet point. The tone is appropriate, and the ideas are extended and supported well throughout the letter.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The letter exhibits a clear logical organisation and progression. Ideas are logically grouped into paragraphs, with an opening greeting, separate body paragraphs for the benefits, disadvantages, and your joining proposal, and an appropriate closing. Cohesive devices such as 'Thus', 'From my perspective', and 'Therefore' are used to connect ideas, though there are minor mechanical transitions. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately throughout the response, ensuring the reader follows your thoughts smoothly from start to finish.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate to sufficient range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common phrases such as 'overjoyed', 'arduous', and 'thrilling adventure'. However, there are some minor lexical and collocational inaccuracies, such as 'planing to do camping' instead of 'planning to go camping', 'great fun' used with an unnecessary article ('a great fun'), and 'adventure some hidden gems' where 'explore' would be a more precise verb. Spelling is generally accurate, but these occasional word-choice errors place this response solidly at Band 6.5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5
You display a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, using conditional clauses ('If you need any equipment...') and relative clauses ('that you will choose') effectively. There are some grammatical errors present, such as 'first check about all the rules' (unnecessary preposition), 'esure' (spelling error for 'ensure'), and 'message m' (typographical omission). Despite these minor errors in grammar and punctuation, they do not impede communication, and the overall sentence control is commendable.
