Student answer (Band 5.5)
Dear Riya,
I hope you are doing well. I am writing to give an advise for you about the camping holiday.
Actually summer camping holiday is really nice because I had an experience last summer. Moreover I enjoyed many things such as cycling, horse riding, climbing and so on. I think the upcoming summer camp will extremely nice than past holiday camps due to the new adventures like stay on the top of the hill and do some extra caricular activities, added more physical activities, Identify the presious gold coin from the forest and so on. I think you would enjoy this camping holiday for the main reason I know you are keen interested on finding things.
However, this camp have some possible drawbacks due to the high risks of activities because the adventure activities will be conducted on the wild so may it possible to see some wild animals like deer, monkeys, lion, tiger, snakes, elephant and so on. I am not sure, If I will get a chance I will definitely come with you.
Yours Lovingly,
Krish.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The student has successfully covered all three bullet points required in the prompt. They explained why their friend Riya would enjoy a camping holiday by highlighting past experiences and shared interests like finding things. They also described possible disadvantages, specifically mentioning the high risks of activities and the presence of wild animals in the forest. Finally, they clearly stated whether they would like to go camping with them this summer by writing, 'If I will get a chance I will definitely come with you.' The tone is generally appropriate for a letter to a friend, although some ideas are slightly repetitive with lists of activities. Overall, the requirements of the task are adequately met, corresponding to a Band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The letter maintains a coherent overall arrangement with standard letter conventions used at the beginning and end. However, paragraphing is weak; the main body of the letter is compressed into two overly long and dense paragraphs that lump together multiple distinct ideas, such as benefits, disadvantages, and the final decision. Cohesive devices are sometimes mechanical or overused, such as repetitive use of 'Moreover' and 'and so on'. Referencing and logical progression are occasionally unclear due to run-on sentences. These features place the response firmly in the Band 5.0 to 5.5 range, and it is best described by Band 5.5 for its mixture of clear organisation and flawed mechanical cohesion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'extra caricular activities', 'presious gold coin', and 'drawbacks'. However, there are notable spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'advise' instead of 'advice', 'extremely nice than' instead of 'much nicer than', 'presious' instead of 'precious', and 'wild' instead of 'the wild'. Some collocation and phrasing choices are unnatural, yet communication is not impeded as the reader can easily follow the intended meaning. This performance is consistent with the descriptors for Band 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some variety in structure. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the letter, such as 'I am writing to give an advise', 'stay on the top of the hill and do some extra caricular activities', and 'If I will get a chance I will definitely come'. Tense control and conditional structures are shaky. While these errors are frequent and cause some difficulty, they rarely completely impede communication. This level of grammatical accuracy and range corresponds to a Band 5.0.
