Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The response successfully covers all three bullet points required by the prompt. You explain why your friend would enjoy camping, such as promoting work-life balance and offering a peaceful environment. You also describe possible disadvantages, including remote locations and limited network reception. Finally, you clearly state whether you would like to go camping together by offering to accompany Elisa. The tone is appropriate for a friendly letter, and the purpose is clear throughout. All parts are well-developed and relevant, demonstrating a solid understanding of General Training Task 1 requirements. Therefore, this performance comfortably achieves a Band 7.0 for Task Achievement.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The letter has a clear logical organisation and progression. You use standard paragraphing effectively, with distinct sections for the introduction, benefits, disadvantages, and the final offer to join. Cohesive devices are used throughout, such as 'First', 'Moreover', 'Furthermore', and 'On the other hand', which help guide the reader smoothly. While some referencing and linking could be slightly more natural, the overall arrangement is coherent and easy to follow. Paragraphs are well-managed, and the letter reads naturally as personal correspondence. This corresponds well to a Band 7.0 descriptor.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary with some flexibility and precision, employing less common phrases such as 'work-life balance', 'social isolation', and 'far-flung areas'. However, there are a few noticeable word-choice and spelling errors that prevent a higher score, such as 'environmen' instead of environment, 'therereby', 'unforessen', and 'sites where is accessible'. Despite these occasional errors, communication is never impeded, and the vocabulary used is appropriate for a friendly letter offering advice. This performance aligns closely with Band 6.5, but rounding to the nearest whole band places it securely at Band 6.0 due to the frequency of minor lexical and typographical inaccuracies.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You display a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing structures like conditional clauses and relative pronouns ('which can consequently reducing social isolation'). However, there are several grammatical errors scattered throughout the text, such as 'allows a person restores', 'provides a people opportunity', 'that you be aware of', and 'since this your first time'. Some complex structures contain mistakes, and verb tense or form errors recur. While these errors do not impede overall communication, they prevent the grammar from reaching Band 7. The frequency of structural slips places this response firmly in the Band 6.0 range.
