Student answer (Band 6.5)

Dear Srinu,

I received your letter about your camping trip. Camping in summer is one of the best things to do. Last time, my family and I went camping in Araku, which is near Visakhapatnam. I think the best time for camping is mid-May.

Therefore, You will enjoy the camping in Araku there are number of things to do. Morning sun rise with there specialized tea which you can find only in Araku, camp fire and Barbecue food as well. Not only that you can build strong bond with family and friends while camping.

There are few possible disadvantages . Make sure you have enough gasoline because you will go to remote areas for camping most of the time. Make sure you carry inof safty equipment all the time to keep you safe from wildlife. Most importantly carry an umbrella we dont know the weather conditions even in summer there is a possibility of rain.

Finally, Thats all my friend if there is a free seat in your car I would love to join with you. I can guide you as well and spend time with you it's been a few months since we met and went out. I think camping will be the best spot to spend again and talk.

Let me know your opinion and looking forward to seeing you.

Best Wishes,

Damaraka polisetty.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

The response successfully covers all parts of the prompt in a natural and friendly tone appropriate for a letter to a friend. You clearly explain why your friend would enjoy a camping holiday by mentioning activities like viewing the morning sunrise, enjoying specialized tea, campfires, and barbecues, and building strong bonds with family and friends. You also successfully describe potential disadvantages, such as ensuring sufficient gasoline for remote areas, carrying safety equipment for wildlife, and packing an umbrella for unpredictable rain. Finally, you clearly state whether you would like to join your friend this summer, noting that you would love to come if there is a seat in the car. The purpose of the letter is fully realized with well-developed ideas, earning a solid band score.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter is logically organized with a clear overall progression from greeting to discussing camping, highlighting benefits and drawbacks, expressing your desire to join, and closing with a warm sign-off. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas, such as the benefits in the second paragraph and the disadvantages in the third. Cohesive devices are generally handled well, though some transitions like 'Therefore, You will enjoy...' and 'Thats all my friend' feel a bit abrupt or conversational. Nevertheless, referencing is mostly clear and the letter flows naturally as an informal correspondence, supporting a clean score in this category.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully using terms like 'remote areas', 'weather conditions', and 'specialized tea'. However, there are some noticeable spelling and word choice errors, such as 'sun rise' (sunrise), 'inof' (enough), and 'safty' (safety), along with minor grammatical collocation slips like 'join with you' instead of 'join you'. Despite these flaws, communication is never impeded, and your vocabulary choices adequately convey your message, reflecting the descriptors for a band 6.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

Your letter features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating a reasonable command of grammar. You successfully use relative clauses ('which is near Visakhapatnam', 'which you can find only in Araku') and conditional structures. However, there are several punctuation and grammatical errors throughout the text, including comma splices and run-on phrasing (e.g., 'there are number of things to do. Morning sun rise with there specialized tea...'). Furthermore, you have spelling errors with homophones or words like 'dont' (don't) and 'there' instead of 'their'. Because these errors occasionally disrupt the flow but do not impede overall communication, this performance aligns well with band 6.0.
