Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response successfully covers all the required bullet points of the task. You explain why your friend would enjoy the camping trip by mentioning learning new skills and enjoying nature, describe possible disadvantages such as dangerous wild fruits and animals, and clearly state whether you would like to join. However, the development of ideas leans towards a Band six level because some points are somewhat under-developed or general. For instance, mentioning that you do not have a weapon is a bit unclear and slightly exaggerated for a standard camping trip, and the points about wild fruits lack specific detail. To reach a higher band, you would need to extend and support your ideas with greater clarity and more realistic, fully explored examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter maintains a coherent overall arrangement with a clear friendly tone and a standard letter structure. You use basic paragraphing effectively to separate the different bullet points of the prompt, and employ some cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'For instance', 'Furthermore', and 'Lastly'. However, the progression of ideas is sometimes mechanical rather than completely smooth, which keeps the response at this level. For example, the transition 'It has some possible negative views as well as, for example' is awkward and repetitive. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, such as 'protect yourself from it' where the pronoun reference is imprecise. To improve, you should use a wider variety of cohesive devices more naturally and ensure smoother transitions between sentences and paragraphs.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, demonstrating an attempt to use less common items such as 'vacation', 'equipment', and 'attractive', which is typical of a Band five pushing towards a higher level. However, there are noticeable lexical errors and awkward word choices that restrict the score, such as spelling 'planing' instead of planning, writing 'cook a food' where the article is incorrect, and using 'jungle's life' rather than wildlife or camp life. Furthermore, phrases like 'aware from the wild animals' and 'without any description' show limitations in collocation and word form. To achieve a higher lexical band, you need to use a wider range of vocabulary with greater precision, better control of word formation, and fewer spelling mistakes.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
Your letter shows a mix of simple and some complex sentence forms, demonstrating a reasonable attempt at structuring your thoughts. You successfully use conditional-style ideas and relative clauses, such as 'which is very attractive' and 'who is helps you'. However, there are frequent grammatical errors in verb forms, prepositions, and relative clauses that prevent a higher score. Examples include spelling 'wil' and missing auxiliary control in 'you are not allow to eat', as well as incorrect relative pronouns ('which' used for people or animals inconsistently). While these errors rarely impede overall communication, their frequency means the grammar control sits firmly in the middle band. To improve, focus on mastering subject-verb agreement, accurate use of passive voice, and precise relative clauses.
