Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by explaining why your friend would enjoy camping, describing disadvantages such as mosquitoes and unexpected weather, and mentioning whether you would join. However, some areas are under-developed rather than fully explored. For example, the point about enjoying nature and tracking is only briefly mentioned without much expansion. The tone of the letter is appropriate for a friend, and the purpose is clearly communicated throughout, successfully covering all the bullet points outlined in the task instructions.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter maintains a coherent overall arrangement with a clear, friendly opening and sign-off. Paragraphing is used to separate different ideas, such as your past experience, the benefits and drawbacks, and your availability. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or abrupt, as seen in transitions like 'The advantages are...' and 'the last is...', which lack smooth linking phrases. Referencing and conjunctions are basic, meaning that while the progression of ideas is generally clear, the connections between sentences could be more naturally integrated.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing you to successfully communicate your ideas about camping. There are several spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'detailes', 'confuse' instead of confused, 'tracking' instead of trekking, 'ahve', 'maily', and 'chnajing'. You make attempts at less common vocabulary related to the topic, but inaccuracies in word form and spelling occasionally surface. While these minor errors do not impede communication, they prevent the lexical score from reaching a higher level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as conditional structures and infinitive clauses. However, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation, particularly missing punctuation, run-on sentences, and incorrect verb forms. Examples include 'you are planning going', 'nature around your', 'be prepare', 'if your guys are chnaging on dates. let me know i can joing', and lower-case letters at the start of sentences. These errors require some effort from the reader to parse, though communication is ultimately maintained.
