Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, as you successfully explain why your friend would enjoy camping, mention some possible disadvantages, and state whether you would join them this summer. However, the development of these ideas is limited and under-developed. For instance, while you mention that camping is good for youngsters to do multiple activities, the explanation shifts abruptly into unrelated points about intellectual things to boost your career and discipline in life. Similarly, the disadvantages are touched upon with warnings about gambling and smoking, but they lack clear, extended explanation specific to a camping trip. To move to a higher level, you need to ensure all your ideas directly answer the bullet points and are fully extended with relevant supporting details.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is some organisation in your letter, such as a clear greeting and sign-off, but there is no clear overall progression of ideas. The paragraphing is somewhat erratic and unfinished, with several very short, disconnected paragraphs like 'No doubt it is quiet good but also comes with loys of challenges'. Furthermore, cohesive devices are inadequate and repetitive, and referencing is sometimes unclear, such as the abrupt transition in the second paragraph where the focus shifts randomly from camping to career and intellectual growth without proper logical links. To improve, you should group your ideas into coherent paragraphs with clear topic sentences and use appropriate cohesive devices to connect your sentences smoothly.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
Your vocabulary range is limited but minimally adequate for the task. You attempt some less common words, but there are noticeable errors in word choice, collocation, and spelling that can cause some difficulty for the reader. For example, you write 'summer caming' instead of camping, 'oppourtunity' instead of opportunity, 'physical fit' instead of physically fit, and 'loys' instead of lots. Additionally, phrases like 'intlectual things' and 'wrong praacticies' show a lack of precision. To achieve a higher score, you need to expand your vocabulary range, use less common lexical items more accurately, and pay closer attention to your spelling and word forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You use a limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple sentences, and your attempts at complex sentences are often faulty. There are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that cause difficulty for the reader. For instance, you have issues with subject-verb agreement and preposition usage, such as 'Hope you will be fine', 'on my advice which you need on summer camping', and 'make yourself away to be induldge in these activities'. Punctuation is also problematic, with erratic spacing around commas and full stops throughout the text. To improve, you must work on sentence variety, ensure correct grammatical patterns, and eliminate frequent errors in basic sentence structures.
