Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Neshlin,
I hope you are doing well. I got excited when I came to know that you are planning to go for camping with family. I would definitly recommend you as this is your first experience.
I think you will love camping as this will connect you with nature and gives you break from daily routine. Moreover, you will spend time with family and could enjoy activities like hiking, swimming and sitting around firecamp in evening. It can also be a great way to relax for you.
Camping can be uncomfortable due to weather conditions especially if it is raining and cold along with this sometime insects and mosquitioes will not allow you sleep well. Apart from this, you may have to deal with limited bathroom facility.
You know, I love camping and if I will be getting a chance to go with you definitly i will be enjoying more but unfortuntely I am travelling to dubai this summer and our bookings are done.I will make sure next time we go together.
Let me know if you need anyother help. I will always there for you.
Best wishes,
Ramanpal

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The letter addresses all three points and maintains a clear, friendly purpose. You explain why camping may appeal to your friend by mentioning nature, a break from routine, family time, and activities such as hiking and swimming. You also identify relevant drawbacks, including poor weather, insects, and limited bathroom facilities, and clearly say you cannot join because you are travelling to Dubai, while suggesting a future trip together. These ideas are relevant and supported with examples. To develop the response further, explain a little more about how your friend might manage one of the disadvantages, or make the reasons for enjoying camping more specific to your friend. Overall, the advice and your decision are clear throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The letter is organised into clear paragraphs: an opening, reasons to enjoy camping, possible disadvantages, and your response about joining. This gives the reader a logical progression, and linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “Apart from this,” and “but unfortunately” help connect ideas. The friendly opening and closing also suit the letter format. Some connections are less smooth, particularly “along with this sometime insects…” and the long sentence beginning “You know, I love camping…,” where several ideas are joined together. A few transitions could be more natural and precise. Keep the paragraph structure, but use clearer sentence boundaries and links so the contrast between your enthusiasm for camping and your unavailability is easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including relevant terms such as “daily routine,” “weather conditions,” “insects,” and “limited bathroom facility.” The language is generally understandable and appropriate for a personal letter. However, the range is somewhat restricted, and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “go for camping,” “gives you break,” and “sitting around firecamp.” Spelling errors, including “definitly,” “mosquitioes,” and “unfortuntely,” also reduce accuracy. Aim to learn common camping-related phrases as complete expressions and check spelling carefully. More precise choices would make the advice sound more natural without changing its friendly tone.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
There is a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, and the reader can follow your meaning. You use clauses to explain reasons and contrast, for example, “as this will connect you with nature” and “but unfortunately I am travelling to Dubai this summer.” Some grammatical errors remain, especially with verb forms, articles, and sentence construction. In “this will connect you with nature and gives you break,” the verbs do not match, while “if I will be getting a chance” uses an unsuitable conditional form. “I will always there for you” is also missing a verb. Review conditional patterns and check that each sentence has a complete, consistent structure. These issues rarely prevent understanding, but correcting them would improve control.
