Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Daman,
I hope you are doing well! I recieved your letter today in the morning and, I am really happy to hear about the news that you finally decided to go for camping this summer. As you mentioned in the letter that you need some advice from me.
Intially, you had made wonderful decision to go as it will be your best summer this year. At campign you will get a chance to learn new skills. There are multifarious activities which you will perform in the whole month. We spoke earlier about my journey. I was a part of this campign last year and, I know the leader was very co-operative. Apart from this, you should definately make new friends.
There are few demerits that you may face. Firstly, you need to share your sleeping space with unknown. I know that will not be easy for you as you like your own space. Secondly, there are very less rest rooms so sometimes you need to wait for atleast 10-15 minutes.
I would love to go with you but I alraedy made my plans for this year. Hopefully you can Understand.
I wish you will have unforgetable experience!
Best Regards,
Shivangi

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The letter addresses all three points: you explain why camping may appeal to Daman, mention disadvantages, and clearly say you cannot join this summer because you have already made plans. The examples about learning skills, meeting friends, sharing sleeping space, and waiting for restrooms make the advice relevant. The camping benefits are somewhat more developed than the drawbacks, which are brief, and the opening says your friend has decided to go rather than directly framing your advice. To strengthen the response, explain one or two benefits or disadvantages in more detail and make the advice more explicit—for example, suggest how your friend could prepare for sharing facilities. The friendly tone and clear decision are effective.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The message has a clear overall shape: an opening, a paragraph on benefits, one on disadvantages, and a closing that answers whether you will go. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “Apart from this” help readers follow the points. However, some links feel mechanical, and the opening sentence “As you mentioned in the letter that you need some advice from me” is an incomplete construction that interrupts the flow. The transition from your previous camping experience to the advice could also be smoother. Use complete sentences and connect related ideas more naturally, while keeping the useful paragraph structure. The sign-off is appropriate for a friendly letter.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a reasonable range of vocabulary for the topic, including “sleeping space,” “co-operative,” “activities,” and “demerits,” and the meaning is generally clear. There are also attempts at less common wording, such as “multifarious,” but it sounds overly formal in a personal letter and is not used naturally. Several spelling errors—“recieved,” “Intially,” “campign,” “definately,” and “unforgetable”—are noticeable, while phrases such as “very less rest rooms” and “share your sleeping space with unknown” are imprecise or unnatural. These choices keep the range from sounding consistently controlled. Prioritise accurate spelling and natural collocations, and choose vocabulary that suits a friendly, conversational letter.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The letter includes both simple sentences and attempts at more complex forms, such as “I know that will not be easy for you as you like your own space.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “As you mentioned in the letter that you need some advice from me” is not a complete sentence, and “you had made wonderful decision” needs an article and a more suitable tense. The sentence beginning “I recieved your letter today in the morning and, I am…” also has awkward punctuation and sentence joining. Review articles, tense choices, and how dependent clauses connect to main clauses. More consistently accurate sentence construction would make the message smoother without requiring more complicated structures.
