Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Karan,

I feel glad to hear from you! I feel very excited to know that you are going for a camping holiday for the first time in this summer.

It is best way to escape from a daily busy routine. It is a chance to breath fresh air, enjoy beautiful nature and mountains. This is the best time for the adventuare. Also you can take a part in thriller camp activities such as hiking, trail and kayak.

It has some disadvantages, so you have to be ready for it. weather is so unpredictable, so be ready to face rain and cold. sometimes you feel discomfort while sleeping on the floor in tent because of bugs and mosquitoes, keep some medicine and anti-mosquitoes cream with you. you might not get clean bathrooms and hot shower there.

I am very excited to join you in this summer holiday. My schedule will be end of july. We will definately have fun there. be ready for it.

I am waiting for your reply and let me know what is the most suitable time for you for holidays.

Your friend,

Vidhi

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address all three points: you explain the appeal of fresh air, nature and activities, mention weather, sleeping conditions and facilities as drawbacks, and clearly say you would like to join Karan. The friendly opening and closing also suit the letter. The response meets the task well overall, but some ideas are more fully covered than others. For example, the disadvantages are listed with practical advice, while the reasons your friend would enjoy camping are mostly general and could be supported with a personal detail or a specific example of an activity. Your plan to go at the end of July is useful, though the invitation could be made more definite by suggesting a date or asking Karan to choose one.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter has a clear overall arrangement: an opening, a paragraph on benefits, one on disadvantages, and a closing paragraph about joining the trip. This makes the main points easy to locate and gives the response a coherent progression. You also use linking expressions such as “Also,” “so,” and “because.” However, some connections feel mechanical, and the long list of drawbacks would be easier to follow if grouped or linked more smoothly. Capitalisation at the start of sentences is inconsistent, and the final request about suitable holiday dates could connect more directly to your proposed timing at the end of July. More varied transitions and clearer links between related details would make the letter flow more naturally.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including relevant terms such as “fresh air,” “unpredictable,” “mosquitoes,” and “hot shower.” There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “camp activities” and “hiking.” However, several word choices, collocations and spellings are inaccurate or unnatural, which limits precision: “breath fresh air” should be “breathe fresh air,” “thriller camp activities” is unclear, and “trail” does not name an activity in this context. “Adventuare” and “definately” are misspelled. Aim to learn common camping collocations and check spelling; this will help you express otherwise relevant ideas more naturally and accurately.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

Your writing includes mostly straightforward sentence patterns, with some attempts to combine ideas using “because” and “so.” The meaning is generally understandable, but grammatical errors occur often enough to affect accuracy. Examples include missing articles in “It is best way” and “in tent,” incorrect forms in “I feel glad to hear” and “My schedule will be end,” and inconsistent sentence punctuation and capitalisation, as in “weather” and “sometimes.” There are also problems with prepositions and verb patterns, such as “in this summer” and “take a part.” Practise accurate articles, verb forms and sentence boundaries, then add a few controlled complex sentences to show a wider range.
