Student answer (Band 5.0)
Dear Ishaan,
I hope you are doing well. I am very happy to listen that you are planning to go on a camping hodiday for the first time this summer and you asked me some advice for this trip.
I would like to let you know that you will enjoy this camping as you are very in your studies and not getting enough time to relax your mind. On camping, you would be perform several types of activities which not only refresh you mind from you busy life but also opportunity to learn new things. Moreover, you would get a chance to meet different people which allows you to gain knowledge of their food and games.
However, there are some disadvantage that you must be keep in your mind before planning of this camping. Firstly, you have you sleep in tent which would not be comfortable for you, particularly in night time.Since you have to stay in forest, there would, be some animals and insects which could be dangerous and food also be limited.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You address the reasons your friend may enjoy camping and mention relevant disadvantages, including sleeping in a tent, insects or animals, and limited food. However, the response is incomplete as a letter: it does not say whether you would like to go camping with Ishaan this summer, so one required part is missing. The advice is also only briefly explained; for example, you say camping offers activities and a chance to meet people, but do not give a specific example or explain why these would suit your friend. To strengthen the response, cover all three points explicitly and develop each with a little more detail, including a clear statement about joining the trip.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The letter has a recognisable structure, with an opening followed by separate paragraphs about benefits and disadvantages. Linking expressions such as “Moreover” and “Firstly” help show how some points relate. However, progression is limited: the disadvantages paragraph ends abruptly, and there is no closing paragraph or sign-off to complete the letter. Some connections are also unclear, as in “which allows you to gain knowledge of their food and games,” where the reference to “which” is difficult to follow. Organise the ideas into a complete sequence—benefits, drawbacks, your decision about joining, and a friendly closing—and use clear references between sentences.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “camping,” “activities,” “relax,” “tent,” and “insects,” and you attempt phrases such as “gain knowledge.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making the message harder to understand. For instance, “happy to listen that” is not a natural way to express pleasure about news, and “hodiday” is a spelling error. “Refresh you mind” and “food also be limited” also show imprecise phrasing. Build a wider set of natural expressions for giving advice and describing outdoor experiences, and check spelling and collocations carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including a sentence beginning “However” and one using “which,” but control is inconsistent. Errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction occur frequently: “you would be perform” should use a base verb after “would,” while “there are some disadvantage” needs a plural noun. The sentence “you have you sleep in tent” also contains several grammatical problems, and punctuation is missing after “time.” These errors sometimes make the reader pause to interpret the meaning. Practise accurate modal constructions, subject–verb agreement, and articles, then proofread each sentence for complete and correctly punctuated clauses.
