Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Ram,

I am writing to share my thoughts on a camping holiday that you are planning to coming summer. In my opinion, you would be able to experience both peace and thrill at once.

You will enjoy a lot during camping because there will be some physical activities. Such as mountain climbing. You like to do this sorts of fun tasks. As a result, this trip will be one of the most memorable trips for you.

I have two suggestions for you. Firstly, do not forget to take some general medicines with you. It would be helpful in critical situations. Another thing is, stay away from unkown insects. During my last trip, I saw a unique spider. I tried to touch and got beaten by it. Later, I suffered with headache.

I have a small vacation during this summer. If you have some spots left then I would love to join you to your camping holiday. In addition, I have been part of camps for several times. As a result, I can guide you during the tour.

I look forward to hearing from you regarding my suggestions. I hope to get a chance to travel with you. Take care!

Yours sincerely,

Meet.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address all three points: you explain that your friend may enjoy the physical activities and excitement, mention risks such as insects and illness, and say you would like to join. The personal spider story also makes the warning relevant. However, the disadvantages are not fully developed: the letter mainly gives safety advice rather than describing broader drawbacks of camping, such as uncomfortable weather or limited facilities. Your reasons for enjoying the trip are also brief, and the invitation is conditional (“If you have some spots left”), so your willingness is clear but could be stated more directly. Develop each point with a little more explanation to make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The letter has a clear overall arrangement, moving from your opinion to reasons, advice, and your offer to join. Paragraphing helps the reader follow these stages, and linking phrases such as “Firstly,” “Another thing,” and “In addition” signal relationships between ideas. Some connections are mechanical or unclear, however. “I have two suggestions” introduces advice, but the task asks for disadvantages, so the paragraph’s purpose is not immediately clear. The sentence fragment “Such as mountain climbing” also interrupts the flow from the preceding sentence. Use transitions that explicitly connect the examples to your points, and make sure each paragraph develops one clear purpose.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “peace and thrill,” “physical activities,” “critical situations,” and “memorable.” There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “unique spider.” However, several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, including “planning to coming summer,” “got beaten by it,” and “suffered with headache.” The spelling error “unkown” is noticeable, and “fun tasks” is vague for describing outdoor activities. These choices do not prevent understanding, but they limit precision and naturalness. Build a bank of common camping-related collocations and check spelling and word forms when proofreading.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and more complex forms, including “If you have some spots left then I would love to join you” and “During my last trip, I saw a unique spider.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors are present. “You are planning to coming summer” has an incorrect verb pattern, while “You like to do this sorts” has a demonstrative and agreement problem. “Such as mountain climbing” is a sentence fragment, and “I suffered with headache” is missing an article and uses an unsuitable preposition pattern. Aim to make examples part of complete sentences and check verb forms, agreement, and articles. More accurate control of these structures would strengthen the letter.
