Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sam,
I am happpy to hear you are finally trying something new and exciting. A camping holiday is really a good way to spend some quality time around nature and exploring different places in it. You will get to see scenic views and different animals. As you are very adventures person you are definitely going to enjoy it.
however there are some difficulties you may find during camping. Mostly camping takke place inside the forest, there are highly likely chances of having wild animals. Also, it become really difficult to have access to some basic daily essentials. It is really difficult to contact someone in the middle of forest so please saty united with your group.
I also wanted to join you for the camping but my family have some plans in advance. Probably i would join you for the next summer. I wish you have great time there and don't forget to send me pictures of your trip. I will be waiting for your reply.
Best wishes
Ana

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three points in the task: you explain that Sam may enjoy nature, scenery and seeing animals, mention risks from wildlife and limited access to essentials, and clearly say you cannot join this summer because of family plans. The friendly tone and closing are appropriate for a letter to a friend. The reasons for enjoying the trip are relevant, but they are mostly listed rather than extended; for example, you could explain how time outdoors or exploring new places might suit Sam personally. The disadvantages are also somewhat general, and the advice to stay with the group could be linked more clearly to the risks described. More specific development would make the response more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall arrangement: an opening, a paragraph about the benefits, one about possible difficulties, and a final paragraph explaining your availability and closing. This makes the main points easy to follow. You also use basic links such as “however,” “also” and “probably” to connect ideas. At times, though, the progression within paragraphs is a little abrupt: the warning to “stay united with your group” follows the point about contacting someone without a clear link. The lowercase “however” after a full stop also interrupts the otherwise clear presentation. Use transitions that show the relationship between each idea, and connect advice directly to the disadvantage it addresses.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including relevant expressions such as “quality time,” “scenic views,” “wild animals” and “basic daily essentials.” There are also attempts at more descriptive language, which suits the friendly letter. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “spend some quality time around nature,” “very adventures person” and “camping take place inside the forest.” Spelling errors including “happpy,” “takke” and “saty” are noticeable and reduce the overall control of vocabulary. Aim for more natural combinations and check spelling carefully; this would make your meaning smoother and more precise.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple sentences and some longer structures, such as “As you are very adventures person you are definitely going to enjoy it,” and the main message remains understandable. However, errors in agreement, articles and verb forms occur across the letter. For example, “you are very adventures person” needs an article and a different adjective form, while “it become really difficult” and “my family have” show problems with subject–verb agreement. The sentence beginning “Mostly camping…” also needs a clearer grammatical construction. These errors do not generally prevent understanding, but they limit accuracy. Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and correctly matched verb, and use a wider range of accurately controlled complex sentences.
