Student answer (Band 4.5)

dear saalim!

I have received your message about your summer vacation.I would like you to suggest any place in pakistan at the northern areas. There are many beatifull places in northern regions.Every single place contains of dashing mountains, lush green areas and crystal clear rivers.

I think it would be more suitable for your summer vacation it. It has a very freindly climate in summers, you would not feel any suffocation due to the hot climate in other regions nowadays.

moreover, it is more suitable for camping beacause mostly you would like to see plane lush green areas in mountains, which is quite suitable for camping.

I am also planning with my freinds to go for a long camping vacation at the same northern regions of pakistan

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0

The letter gives a relevant reason your friend might enjoy camping: you describe the northern areas’ mountains, greenery, rivers, and cooler summer climate. You also indicate that you are planning a camping trip with friends, which partly addresses whether you would go with this friend. However, the response does not describe any disadvantages of camping, and your willingness to go with Saalim specifically is not stated clearly. The advice is also brief and some points, such as why the scenery is suitable for camping, are not developed. The response is 23 words below the required minimum, so there is limited space to address and explain all three points. Add a clear disadvantage and a direct answer about joining your friend, then support each idea with detail.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The ideas are broadly grouped in a sensible order: you introduce the holiday, describe the destination and its climate, and finish by mentioning your own plans. Connectors such as “moreover” help signal an additional reason. However, the letter has no paragraph breaks, so the different purposes are not clearly separated, and the progression feels abrupt near the end. The opening also moves quickly from acknowledging the message to recommending a location. Some links between sentences are unclear, particularly “I think it would be more suitable for your summer vacation it,” which makes the reference difficult to follow. Use separate paragraphs for enjoyment, disadvantages, and your plans, and make references and transitions explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some relevant descriptive vocabulary, including “lush green areas,” “crystal clear rivers,” and “friendly climate,” which helps convey the appeal of the destination. There is also some variety in how you describe the landscape. However, several spelling errors—such as “beatifull,” “freindly,” and “beacause”—reduce accuracy, and some expressions are unnatural or imprecise, including “contains of dashing mountains” and “plane lush green areas.” The vocabulary range is adequate for communicating the basic recommendation, but word choice and collocation need more control. Choose familiar, accurate phrases where uncertain, and check spelling carefully; for example, describe “open green spaces” and “rugged mountains” rather than using unclear combinations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response includes both simple statements and attempts at longer structures, such as the sentence explaining that the cooler climate means the friend would not feel uncomfortable in the heat. However, errors in sentence construction and punctuation sometimes make the message difficult to follow. For example, “I think it would be more suitable for your summer vacation it” contains an unnecessary final pronoun, while “I would like you to suggest any place” does not form the intended request clearly. Several sentences also run together without spaces after full stops, and the opening sentence begins with a lowercase letter. Practise building clear clauses with accurate pronouns and sentence boundaries, and use a direct structure such as “I recommend visiting the northern areas because…”
