Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Soham,

I hope this message finds you in the healthy state! Its absolutely wonderful thought to go out on a camping in wild forest during holiday to relex a bit from your busy schedule.

I would definitely recommend camping holiday as the best way to spend the vacation time off activity. should you bring the best qualitity tent for camping as it would help you stay safe overnight from wild animals. Furthermore, not only this amazing camping trip with friends would serve as nostalgic experience for your future but it also allows you to adapt life long useful skill, self-resilience.

Things to keep in mind: one of the major drawbacks of camping in wild forest versus open ground is safety concern. Because when you will camp in deepest forests full of predators, you will have to be vigilant about any attacks they might do. For example, when I was camping in wild with my family last year we left the fireplace burning overnight to threaten the wild animals, and not to mention always carry a bear repellant spray for security.

I would love to join you on your trip however due to labour shortage at my workplace my manager could not approve the short notice leave. Have a lovely weekend holidays and happy camping!!

Lots of love,

Vishal

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address all three points in the prompt: you explain that camping offers a break from a busy schedule and can build useful skills, mention safety risks, and clearly say you would like to join but cannot because leave was not approved. The personal example about camping with your family also supports your advice. This gives the letter a clear purpose and relevant content. However, the reasons your friend would enjoy the trip are more fully developed than the disadvantages, which focus almost entirely on animal safety; practical drawbacks such as uncomfortable weather or limited facilities could broaden this section. The invitation response is clear, though a warmer alternative plan or suggestion to go another time would make the closing more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter follows a sensible overall sequence: opening, reasons to go, possible drawbacks, and your response about joining. Paragraphing helps the reader distinguish these stages, and links such as “Furthermore,” “Because,” and “however” show how ideas relate. The personal camping example also gives the safety paragraph a clear supporting detail. At times, though, connections feel mechanical or the phrasing makes the relationship between ideas less clear, as in “Furthermore, not only this… but it also…” and the abrupt label “Things to keep in mind:”. The final sentence moves quickly from your inability to attend to a general holiday greeting. Smoother transitions and a more consistently conversational letter structure would make the progression more natural.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range for a friendly advice letter, including relevant expressions such as “busy schedule,” “nostalgic experience,” “self-resilience,” and “major drawbacks.” These choices show an attempt to go beyond basic vocabulary, and the intended meaning is generally understandable. However, several word choices, collocations, and spellings are inaccurate or unnatural, including “healthy state,” “go out on a camping,” “relex,” “qualitity,” and “bear repellant spray.” “Vacation time off activity” is also difficult to interpret. These slips reduce precision even when the reader can infer your meaning. Aim for natural combinations such as “in good health,” “go camping,” and “a relaxing break,” and check spelling carefully before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex structures, including the “not only…but also” construction and a conditional sentence beginning “when you will camp.” The main message remains understandable, and some sentences communicate complete ideas clearly. However, there are some errors in sentence formation, articles, verb forms, and punctuation. For example, “should you bring…” is not correctly formed as advice in this context, and “it also allows you to adapt life long useful skill” has an unclear grammatical structure. The opening also needs an article in “a wonderful thought,” while “I hope this message finds you in the healthy state” uses an awkward article pattern. Review sentence boundaries and use consistent, natural verb forms; this will help your complex attempts become more controlled.
