Student answer (Band 5.5)
Dear..
I am writting this letter to advice you for the camping the camping holiday you have asked for .
Iam mainly writting this letter to explain how a camping holiday can result in a good source of enjoyment for you as it includes tracking and some sort of natural activity in woods where you can wind off from regular schedule of busy city life and fell yourself closer to nature .
the entire holiday will be excellent choice according to me but some demerits you may face will be hygeine or kind of availability of goods you may need as you have to cook , clean and do all activities accordingly and also need to be careful from the wild and the weather condions .
lastly , i would definatly like to join you for your camping holiday as we can enjoy together and can have a relaxing time along .
Regards.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three points: you explain that outdoor activities and time in nature could help your friend relax, mention practical drawbacks such as hygiene, supplies, cooking and weather, and say you would join them. The friendly purpose is clear. However, the reasons for enjoyment and the disadvantages are presented briefly, so some ideas are less fully developed than others. For example, you could explain what kind of activities your friend might enjoy or how to prepare for the weather and limited facilities. The invitation is also clear, but adding a specific expression of enthusiasm or a practical suggestion would make the advice feel more complete and personal.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter has a recognisable sequence: an opening, reasons to enjoy camping, possible disadvantages, and your decision about joining. Paragraphing helps separate these points, and words such as “lastly” signal the final point. However, the opening repeats the purpose (“I am writing this letter…” and “I am mainly writing this letter…”), and some long sentences combine several ideas, making the progression less smooth. The disadvantages sentence, for instance, moves from hygiene to supplies, chores, wildlife and weather without clear separation. Use shorter sentences and more precise links between related ideas, and include a natural greeting and sign-off, to make the organisation easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “natural activity,” “busy city life,” “hygiene,” and “wild,” so the reader can understand the main message. There are also attempts at less common expressions, but several word choices, collocations and spelling errors reduce accuracy: “tracking” is likely intended to be “trekking,” “wind off” should be “unwind,” and “availability of goods” is awkward for camping supplies. “Hygeine,” “definatly,” and “condions” are misspelled. The range is adequate for communicating basic advice, but repeated general wording such as “activities” and “enjoy” limits precision. Learn common camping collocations and check spelling before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a clause explaining why camping may be enjoyable and a sentence listing possible disadvantages. The main ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors and punctuation problems affect fluency. For example, “I am writing this letter to advice you” needs the infinitive pattern “to advise you,” while “as you have to cook, clean and do all activities” would be clearer with a more complete parallel structure. The opening also has inconsistent spacing and punctuation, and the final sentence uses “can” repeatedly. Practise accurate verb patterns, articles and sentence boundaries, then proofread for capitalisation and punctuation.
