Student answer (Band 6.5)

Dear Mirab,

I hope you are doing well. It was great to hear from you. I am glad that you asked my advice about camping holiday.

In my opinion, you should try a camping holiday because it is the best way to relax from busy routine. Beside this, you could go for hiking or explore the beautiful nature places. And it is also best way to spend sometime with nature without the use of social media.

However, there are also some disadvantages of camping. For example, weather could be unperdictable such as it can be cold or rain while weather perdication show the clear day. You also have to deal with the insects and have to prepare your own meals. So you should bring some warm clothes, medications and food.

I would love to join you in this summer. You should choose the campesite near the mountain so that we can spend two nights with nature and will make some more memories togethers.

Let me know, if you need more information.

Best wishes,

Riya

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

You address all three points clearly: you explain that camping offers relaxation, hiking and time away from social media; mention disadvantages such as unpredictable weather, insects and preparing meals; and state directly, “I would love to join you.” The advice about warm clothes, medication and food also supports the discussion. Your position is clear throughout, and the ideas are relevant and extended with examples. To make the response stronger, develop the reasons for your friend’s enjoyment a little more specifically—for instance, explain what makes the mountain setting appealing to them, rather than relying mainly on general benefits. Overall, the letter fulfils the task well and maintains an appropriate friendly purpose and tone.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The letter is organised in a clear sequence: opening, reasons to go, possible drawbacks, your willingness to join, and a friendly closing. Paragraphing helps the reader follow each part, and transitions such as “However” signal the shift to disadvantages effectively. The advice about what to bring also follows logically from the weather and meal concerns. To improve the flow further, avoid beginning several sentences with “And” or repeatedly using “you”; connect related points more naturally. The final paragraph could also link the proposed campsite and two-night plan more smoothly to your offer to join. Overall, progression is clear and cohesive, though some linking is a little repetitive.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough vocabulary to communicate the topic and your advice, including “unpredictable,” “hiking,” “insects,” and “memories.” The language is generally understandable, but several spelling errors and awkward word combinations reduce precision: “unperdictable,” “weather perdication,” “campesite,” and “spend sometime with nature.” Some expressions are also broad, such as “beautiful nature places” and “busy routine.” Aim to use more natural collocations and check spelling carefully; for example, describe “unpredictable weather” and “spending time outdoors.” This would make the letter sound more fluent and precise while retaining its friendly tone.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple sentences and more developed structures, including “because it is the best way to relax” and “so that we can spend two nights…”. Meaning remains clear despite some grammatical errors. Articles and sentence patterns need attention: write “a camping holiday” and “the best way,” and avoid the incomplete construction “Beside this” when introducing another reason. In “you should choose the campsite… so that we can… and will make,” the verbs do not form a consistent structure; use “so that we can… and make…”. There are also punctuation issues, such as the unnecessary comma in “Let me know, if…”. More consistent control of these patterns would improve accuracy.
