Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Marry,
I am happy to hear that you are going for your first camping holiday this summer. I'd love to give some advice from my experience.
I am sure that you are going to have a great time during a camping day as you can get chnace to live near to nature and feel it deeply. As you told me, you are going to Victoria and you know how the weather feels and hills look in the summer. Be ready for a heavenly experience.
You should be ready to see Bears and make sure to survive from few reptiles as well. In the hot weather, more animals and reptiles can be seen in the woods, so I would say, avoid going deep in the woods for camping and have some tools such as shoot gun, lazer light and few torches handy during night. For the first time visitors, it is advisable to hire a guard to avoid any unforseen situation.
I would love to join you, but my husband has already planned a trip on my birthday to Greece. So, I won't be able to join you this time, but next time I promise I will plan a camping day by myself.
Have a great fun on your holidays and don't forget to share your experience and pictures with me.
Much love,

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three points in the task: you explain that your friend may enjoy being close to nature, mention possible risks from wildlife, and clearly say you cannot join because of your birthday trip to Greece. The personal tone and closing are appropriate for a letter to a friend. However, the enjoyment point is only briefly developed, and the disadvantages focus almost entirely on animals; practical drawbacks such as insects, uncomfortable sleeping, or changing weather would give a fuller picture. The advice about hiring a guard and carrying a “shoot gun” is also rather extreme and could be made more realistic and relevant. Develop each point with a little more explanation to make the response more balanced.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter has a clear overall structure: an opening, a paragraph about the appeal of camping, a paragraph on risks, and a closing that explains whether you can go. This makes the main message easy to follow. You also use some linking expressions, including “As you told me,” “so,” and “but.” At times, however, the progression within paragraphs is less smooth: the shift from enjoying nature to the weather and hills is abrupt, and the wildlife advice becomes a long sequence of warnings. Group related ideas and use clearer transitions to show how each detail supports your advice. The final paragraph combines your reason for declining with a future promise and sign-off; separating these ideas slightly would improve the flow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, such as “nature,” “reptiles,” “woods,” and “torches,” and “heavenly experience” conveys enthusiasm. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, including “camping day,” “get chnace,” “survive from few reptiles,” and “have a great fun.” There are also spelling errors such as “unforseen,” “lazer,” and “Marry.” These issues make the language less precise, even though the overall meaning is generally understandable. Aim for natural phrases such as “camping trip,” “get the chance,” and “protect yourself from wildlife,” and check spelling carefully. More precise vocabulary for practical disadvantages would also broaden your range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, including the reason clause in “I would love to join you, but my husband has already planned a trip…” and the conditional advice about avoiding the woods. Most of the message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors affect accuracy. For example, “as you can get chnace” needs an article and a corrected noun phrase, while “survive from few reptiles” has an incorrect grammatical pattern and missing determiner. “In the hot weather, more animals and reptiles can be seen” is understandable, though the article use is awkward. Review articles, countable nouns, and prepositions in verb patterns, and break up the long advice sentence to improve control and punctuation.
