Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear maha dev,
i am writing this letter with reference to the letter recieved by me from you .i would like to make some suggestion regarding the camping.
i was overjoyed to hear that you are going for holiday camping .i know that its your first time and you are bit nervous but i assure you this will give you an unforgetful experience and you will be always fortunate to god for providing you with a chance to do camping. since you are always busy with your hectic schedule this holiday will give you a break which i feel you needed the most at present. also you will the chance to make new friends and do some challenging activities .
But you might have to face some discomforts as it is going to very hot and it is very difficult to bear such a skraoching heat. there will be difficult in bathing and washing clothes as well due to limited availability fo water at the camping sight . but considering the positive benefits you will get from such a wonderfull camping these minor discomforts can be ignored.
i really want to join you but dues to busy hectic schedule it is impossible for me to join you.
hope you will enjoy your holiday cannot wait to hear your experience at the campin.
yours truly

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three points in the task: you explain that camping could offer a break from a hectic schedule and opportunities to make friends and try challenging activities, mention heat and limited water as disadvantages, and clearly say you cannot join because of your schedule. The advice is relevant and the friendly purpose is apparent. Some ideas, however, are less fully developed: the benefits are mostly listed rather than illustrated, and the disadvantages could be made more specific or balanced. The statement that your friend will be “fortunate to god” is unclear and does not communicate a convincing reason to enjoy the trip. Develop each point with a brief example and use a natural, clear expression of encouragement.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a generally coherent order: it introduces the camping plan, discusses benefits, turns to possible difficulties, and ends with your decision and a friendly closing. The contrast signalled by “But” helps the reader follow the shift to disadvantages. However, the ideas are grouped into very long paragraphs, and several transitions feel mechanical, particularly the repeated use of “also” and “but.” The final lines run together, making the closing less clear. Use separate paragraphs for the benefits, drawbacks, and your response about joining, and add appropriate punctuation and linking phrases. This would make the progression easier to follow while preserving the clear overall structure already present.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “hectic schedule,” “challenging activities,” “limited availability of water,” and “discomforts.” These choices show an attempt to go beyond very basic language. However, inaccurate spelling and word choice are noticeable and sometimes make the meaning unclear: “unforgetful experience,” “skraoching heat,” and “campin” are examples. Some expressions are also unnatural, such as “fortunate to god” and “wonderfull camping.” Aim for accurate, natural collocations rather than more elaborate wording, and check spelling carefully. A wider range of correctly used phrases for outdoor activities and practical difficulties would help you express the ideas more precisely.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast with “but” and a reason clause beginning “since.” The main message is usually understandable, but errors in sentence construction and punctuation are evident. For example, “you are bit nervous” needs an article, “this will give you” is followed by an unclear construction, and “it is going to very hot” is missing a verb form. There are also run-on sentences and inconsistent capitalisation, such as the lowercase “i” and the unpunctuated final sentence. Practise accurate article use, complete verb phrases, and sentence boundaries. Shorter, carefully punctuated sentences will help you retain your ideas while improving control.
