Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear John,
I hope you are in great health. I received your letter last week in which you shared the news of going on a camping holiday with your family.
I am very pleased to know that at last you have taken out time for yourself from the hectic routine. I am aware that you always desired of going on a camping holiday as you are an adventurous person who likes exploring nature and wildlife.
Surely, it will be a memorable expeience for you.
However, I would like to inform you about some possible challenges that you might face during your trip. Prepare yourself for any kind of weather changes as it becomes unpredictable for travelling or even for camping. It is usually ban to lit up fire at the camping site so either get permit from the local authority or arrange appropriate clothing to avoid any inconvenience.
Furthermore, the camping site that you have choosen is not far from my residence. I might join you if I will be available at that weekend. Also I have prior experience of camping so it will be helpful for you.
I may look forward to your response and letting me know if you need any further details.
Kind regards,
Arzoo

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three points: you explain that John is adventurous and enjoys nature, mention unpredictable weather and restrictions on fires, and say you may join him. The advice is relevant and the friendly letter format is appropriate. However, some points are less fully developed than others. The reasons he would enjoy the trip are mostly asserted rather than illustrated, and the disadvantages could be clearer—for example, explain how weather might affect the trip or what to do if fires are prohibited. Your willingness to go is also conditional (“if I will be available”), so it does not give a definite answer. Develop these ideas with a little more specific support and state your plans more clearly.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall arrangement: an opening, reasons for enjoying camping, possible difficulties, and your response about joining. Paragraphing helps the reader follow these stages, and linking expressions such as “However” and “Furthermore” make the progression visible. This meets the lower-band expectations securely and shows some features of stronger organisation. At times, though, the connections feel mechanical or the reference is unclear: “Furthermore” introduces your proximity to the campsite rather than extending the disadvantages, while “that weekend” has no clearly established date. Consider grouping related ideas more tightly and using transitions that express the exact relationship between them.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range for a personal letter, including relevant expressions such as “hectic routine,” “unpredictable,” “local authority,” and “prior experience.” These choices communicate the main ideas, and you attempt some less common vocabulary. However, several word-choice, collocation, and spelling slips reduce precision: “desired of going” is unnatural, “ban to lit up fire” is unclear, and “expeience” and “choosen” are misspelled. “Great health” and “appropriate clothing” also sound less natural in this context. Aim for accurate, idiomatic phrases and check spelling, especially when using less familiar vocabulary; this will make your advice sound more fluent and precise.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex forms, including a relative clause (“in which you shared the news”) and a conditional sentence about joining. Most meaning remains clear, but some grammatical errors occur. For example, “I always desired of going” has an incorrect verb pattern, and “if I will be available” uses an unsuitable future form after “if”; write “if I am available.” The sentence about fire restrictions also needs a clearer grammatical structure, such as “It is usually forbidden to light a fire at the campsite.” Review verb patterns, conditional clauses, and article use. Greater accuracy in these areas, alongside your existing sentence variety, would strengthen the letter.
