Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Riya,
It's been ages since we talked to each other yesterday when i got call from you i was delighted. I am writing this email as a revert to your question whether you should go for camping or not.
I think going for camping is a great idea as it will refresh your mood especially for women like us who are managing both household and their work. Also you will be able to spend quality time with your husband and children. One thing i would like to suggest you is that choosing an appropriate location fir camping is bit difficult so focus on this part more and if possible go for quiet place such as beachside or parks.
Talking about the negative side of going to camping is that a lot of before hand preperation is needed which includes arranging tents, food, blankets, stove etc. Therefore you need to invest a lot of time in this. Moreover this activity is expensive because of the items that are needed to have a great camping experience.
I am really excited to catch up with you after so long and i am sure we will have a fun time together. I have already started my preperations for camping.
Looking forward to see you soon.
Warm regards,
Harjot Kaur

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three points: you explain that camping could refresh Riya and give her family time together, mention preparation and expense as disadvantages, and indicate that you are keen to go with her. The friendly tone and sign-off suit a letter to a friend. However, the invitation is implied rather than stated directly: “I have already started my preparations” does not clearly confirm that you would like to join her this summer. The reasons for enjoyment and the disadvantages are relevant, but some are only briefly explained; for example, you list equipment without saying how the preparation might affect the trip. State your willingness explicitly and develop each point with a little more specific detail.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall arrangement: an opening, a paragraph about the benefits, one about drawbacks, and a friendly closing. Linking expressions such as “Also,” “Moreover,” and “Therefore” help show how ideas relate, and the reader can follow the main message. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some of the flexibility associated with stronger cohesion. At times, however, the links feel formulaic, and the opening sentence is difficult to follow because it combines the time since you last spoke with the phone call. Separate these ideas and use clearer transitions between advice and disadvantages. A more direct closing invitation would also make the progression to the final paragraph smoother.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the topic and maintain a warm, personal tone, including “quality time,” “appropriate location,” and “camping experience.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “quiet place” and “before hand preparation.” However, several word choices, collocations, and spelling errors reduce precision: “a revert to your question” is unnatural in this context, “go for camping” is awkward, and “preperations” is misspelled. Some wording is also imprecise, such as “for women like us,” which may sound over-generalised. Aim for natural phrases such as “reply to your question,” “go camping,” and “advance preparation,” and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, including a reason clause in “as it will refresh your mood” and a relative clause in “items that are needed.” Most of the message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors are noticeable. For example, “when i got call from you” needs an article and a more accurate verb phrase, while “Looking forward to see you” should use a gerund after “to.” There are also issues with agreement and sentence control in “women like us who are managing both household and their work,” and the opening sentence is awkwardly constructed. Practise accurate articles, verb patterns, and sentence boundaries while retaining your attempts at longer structures.
