Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three points in the task: you explain that your friend may enjoy the scenery and exploring nature, mention rainy weather and slippery ground as disadvantages, and clearly say, “I also love to join you.” The friendly opening and closing suit a personal letter. The reasons for enjoying camping are relevant, but ideas such as “maintain your inner peace” and developing your personality are not fully explained, and the disadvantages are limited to two brief examples. Develop these points with a little more specific detail—for example, how the scenery or time outdoors might appeal to your friend, and how to prepare for poor weather. This would make the response more fully developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The letter has a recognisable sequence: greeting, reasons to go, possible drawbacks, your willingness to join, and a sign-off. This gives it an overall structure, and phrases such as “But” and “so” attempt to connect ideas. However, most of the content is packed into one long paragraph, and several ideas run together, making the progression difficult to follow. The sentence beginning “But it also having disadvantages” shifts from drawbacks to advice without a clear break. Use separate paragraphs for the benefits, disadvantages, and your plans, and divide long sentences into shorter units. More precise links between ideas would make the organisation clearer and less dependent on repeated “so” and “but.”
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a reasonable range of topic-related vocabulary, including “breath-taking views,” “explore nature,” “rainy weather,” and “hectic routine.” These choices help communicate the main ideas and show an attempt to use expressive language. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unclear, such as “cherish moments,” “slippery place for camping,” and “camping sides.” Spelling errors, including “recieved,” “expolre,” and “responsbilities,” also reduce accuracy. Aim for natural, precise phrases and check spelling carefully. For example, describe “slippery ground” or “a campsite,” and use “memories you will cherish” rather than “cherish moments.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses with “because,” “but,” and “if,” and the main message remains understandable. However, some errors in verb forms, sentence construction, agreement, and punctuation make parts of the letter hard to read. For instance, “it contains breath-taking views which will be having” has an awkward and incorrect verb construction, while “it also having disadvantages” is missing a finite verb. The long sentence beginning “But it also…” combines several clauses without clear punctuation. Practise forming complete clauses and checking tense and agreement, then use full stops to separate ideas. These changes would improve control while preserving your attempts at complex sentences.
