Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Tirtha,
I am writing this letter to give my advice on your first camping holiday for this summer.
I am fine. How are you? Actually, a camping holiday is the best. In which you could experience beauty of the nature closely. It is a good way to enjoy time with near and dear ones. You could see some animals such as Deers. It would be fun to grill the vegetables and paneer. Apart from this, since it is summer, you could enjoy swimming in the river.
Thare are some demerits of a camping holiday. First, there will be no restrooms like a five-star hotel. Secondly, you might have some itching because of fruitflies and insects. Last but not least, you will have to take everything to prepare food along with a sleeping bed and a tent.
Since, you guys are going for a camping in this coming weekend I am in. As I do not have any other plans for that weekend.
I am hoping to hear from you.
Thank you.
Yours faithfully,
Shraddha Kapadia

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three points: you explain that camping offers close contact with nature, time with loved ones, wildlife, cooking outdoors and swimming; you mention limited restroom facilities, insects and carrying equipment; and you say you are willing to join. The advice is relevant and the reader can understand your position. However, some ideas are only briefly stated. For example, you could explain why these activities would suit your friend, or give practical advice for dealing with insects and carrying supplies. The invitation is also slightly unclear: “you guys are going for a camping in this coming weekend” sounds as though the trip is already arranged, rather than directly answering whether you would like to go. Develop these points more clearly and personally.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall arrangement: an opening, a paragraph on benefits, one on disadvantages, and a closing that confirms you can join. Sequencing phrases such as “First,” “Secondly,” and “Last but not least” help the reader follow the list, and the main ideas progress logically. This is a strong foundation. Some linking is mechanical, however, and “Apart from this” introduces another benefit without adding much relationship between the ideas. The opening small-talk sentences, “I am fine. How are you?”, interrupt the advice slightly, while “Since, you guys…” is not smoothly connected to the preceding paragraph. Use transitions more naturally and make the final paragraph a direct, well-linked response to your friend’s invitation.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of vocabulary for the topic, including “demerits,” “restrooms,” “insects,” “grill,” and “sleeping bed and a tent.” These choices make the main points understandable, and you attempt some less common expressions such as “near and dear ones.” However, several phrases are unnatural or imprecise, including “beauty of the nature closely,” “fruitflies,” and “going for a camping.” “Deers” is also an incorrect plural form, and “Thare” is misspelled. These errors do not prevent understanding, but they limit the naturalness and precision of the letter. Aim for common, accurate collocations such as “enjoy the natural scenery up close” and check spelling and plural forms carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use a mixture of short sentences and longer structures, including the conditional “you could experience…” and the reason clause “since it is summer.” Most of the message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. “In which you could experience…” is a sentence fragment, and “Since, you guys are going…” has an unnecessary comma and an awkward dependent-clause structure. The phrase “a camping holiday is the best” would also be clearer as a complete, specific statement, while “I am hoping to hear from you” is grammatically sound. To improve, connect dependent clauses to complete main clauses, avoid separating “since” from its clause with a comma, and practise forming natural sentences with infinitives and articles.
