Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear smith,
It has been ages since we met! I hope everything is going good in your life. I've got your letter asking my suggestion regarding organising a camping holiday.
From my perspective, it's not a cup of coffee for everyone. However, you'd definetly love it as you like to be blend into the nature. It's made for the people with such personality and having some sort of adventure in life. As we grew up together, I know your taste of holidays and I really believe you'd feel cherished after living into the wild in the heart of the jungle.
Nevertheless, it would bring some downsides where there is possible danger of wild animals. Since you don't have the license of hunting you won't be able to have arms occupied with you. Also, the network in such remote places comes once in a blue which would feel like a life without a soul for you as you are too much addicted to use social media and internet. In addition, the area which you are planning has extreme weather condidtions which occurs unexpectedly due to tiny changes in conditions.
I would surely try to accompany you with your camping as you have limited knowledge and experience. This would be fun if others from our group join which would enable us to live our past again.
Kind regards,
Hari

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three points: you explain why your friend may enjoy nature and adventure, mention risks and poor connectivity, and clearly say you would accompany them. The personal references, such as knowing your friend’s holiday preferences and suggesting that others join, make the letter relevant and friendly. This meets the task well, though some ideas are less fully developed than others. For example, the danger from animals is mentioned, but the point about not having a hunting licence and carrying weapons is unclear and does not offer practical advice. The weather disadvantage is also stated generally. To strengthen the response, explain how these issues might affect the trip and suggest sensible preparations, while keeping your willingness to go explicit.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall arrangement: an opening, a paragraph about the appeal of camping, a paragraph on disadvantages, and a closing statement about joining the trip. Linking expressions such as “However,” “Nevertheless,” and “In addition” help signal the movement between ideas. The progression is generally easy to follow, and the final reference to inviting the group gives the letter a natural personal ending. Some connections are less clear or feel mechanical, particularly the shift from animal danger to hunting licences and weapons, and the long sentence about internet access and social media. Use clearer links between each disadvantage and its effect, and divide the longer sentences so that each point is easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt a range of vocabulary suited to the topic, including “remote places,” “wild animals,” “extreme weather conditions,” and “accompany.” These choices show an effort to be specific and personal. However, several inaccurate or unnatural expressions reduce precision: “not a cup of coffee” is not the usual idiom, “blend into the nature” is awkward, and “living into the wild” does not express the intended idea naturally. There are also spelling errors such as “definetly” and “condidtions.” Aim for accurate, natural collocations rather than unusual phrasing, and check spelling carefully. More precise expressions for camping risks and preparation would also help you communicate your advice clearly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses beginning with “as,” “since,” and “which.” Most of the message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors affect clarity. For example, “I’ve got your letter asking my suggestion” needs a different verb pattern, and “the area which you are planning has extreme weather conditions which occurs” has problems with the clause structure and subject–verb agreement. In “you like to be blend,” the verb form is also incorrect. Review verb patterns, agreement, and relative clauses, and break up long sentences when they contain several ideas. Greater control of these structures would make your advice easier to read.
