Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Rishitha,

I hope you are in good health. I remember that you were thinking to go on a camping vacation for the first time this summer. You won't believe me, but camping is one of the most exciting activity, and can be enjoyed a lot on a solo trip.

To begin with, You will have an amazing time setting up the camp in between the forest. One this is for sure, that you will enjoy the wilderness and there is a chance you might encounter with rare bird sightings.

However, there are some possible situations you might face on a camping holiday. Always remember to set up your camp near the water, which allows you to use it for cooking. Additionally, try to carry a bug spray with you, as it helps you to avoid contact with dangerous insects.

I would like to accompany on this holiday, how about i make a plan on the family day weekend? Do let me know what do you think. I hope to receive a positive response from you.

Yours lovingly

Anand

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address the three requested points: you explain that your friend may enjoy the wilderness and seeing birds, mention practical difficulties involving water and insects, and say you would like to join the trip. The friendly tone is appropriate. However, the disadvantages are not clearly described as drawbacks: “set up your camp near the water” and carrying bug spray are advice or precautions, rather than explaining what could make camping difficult. The reason your friend would enjoy the holiday is also brief, and the suggestion that camping is enjoyable “on a solo trip” does not fit as well with the planned trip together. Develop each point more clearly—for example, mention uncomfortable weather or limited facilities, and explain what you would enjoy doing together.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The letter has a clear overall arrangement: an opening, paragraphs about enjoyment and practical concerns, and a closing invitation. Linking expressions such as “To begin with,” “However,” and “Additionally” help signal the sequence. Some connections are less effective, though. “However” introduces precautions rather than a clearly stated disadvantage, so the relationship between the ideas is not fully clear. The sentence beginning “One this is for sure” also interrupts the flow, and the final paragraph combines your willingness to go, a proposed date, and a request for a reply without smooth transitions. Use paragraphing to separate the three task points and make each paragraph’s main idea explicit; this would make the progression more natural and less dependent on formulaic linkers.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range for a friendly letter, including relevant terms such as “wilderness,” “rare bird sightings,” “bug spray,” and “accompany.” These choices make the topic clear, and the reader can understand your main message. Some expressions are inaccurate or unnatural, however: “thinking to go” would be more naturally expressed as “thinking of going,” “in between the forest” is not an appropriate collocation, and “encounter with rare bird sightings” combines words awkwardly. “Camping vacation” is understandable, though “camping trip” is more idiomatic here. Aim to learn common word partnerships and check whether a verb takes a preposition; more precise phrasing will make your ideas sound fluent without needing unusually advanced vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including “as it helps you to avoid contact with dangerous insects,” and most of the message remains understandable. Some grammatical errors are noticeable, which limits accuracy. Examples include “one of the most exciting activity” (plural agreement is needed), “thinking to go” (the verb pattern is incorrect), and “I would like to accompany on this holiday” (the sentence needs an object after “accompany”). Capitalisation is also inconsistent: “You” and “i” appear incorrectly after sentence boundaries. Review verb patterns, subject–verb and noun-number agreement, and sentence punctuation. Building a few accurate complex sentences around your main points would show greater control while preserving the friendly tone.
