Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Aman,
I hope this letter finds you alive and kicking! I'm writing this note in response to your letter asking for my advice on going on a camping hoiday for the first time, and I'd suggest you to definitely go for it. Owing to the varied experiences that you would have on camp-site, you would love it.
Also, I'd like to tell you that you must bring your umbrella and extra pair of flip-flops as there might be rain anytime in summers. Additionally, you may face any danger from wild animals at night, so make sure to do some research aboout the place before booking the tickets.
I'd really love to go with you on this vacation, if i'd not have to submit my first project this summer. But I promise, we will plan a trip shortly.
Please let me know if you have any questions regarding the booking or anything else. Can't wait to see you soon!
Much love,
Mannu

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three points: you recommend camping, mention rain and possible wild animals, and explain that you cannot join because of a project. The friendly opening and closing also suit a letter to a friend. However, the reasons your friend might enjoy the holiday are only briefly stated in “varied experiences,” and the disadvantages are listed without explaining how to prepare for or manage them. Your answer about joining is clear, but the promise to plan a trip later could be developed a little more. To strengthen the response, give one or two specific examples of enjoyable camping experiences and explain the practical impact of the disadvantages.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter has a clear overall arrangement: you introduce your advice, discuss practical concerns, explain whether you can join, and finish with a suitable closing. Paragraphing helps distinguish these stages, and links such as “Additionally” and “But” make the relationships between ideas understandable. Some progression is less smooth because the second paragraph moves quickly from packing advice to wildlife risks, while the first paragraph gives only a general reason for enjoying camping. The phrase “Also, I'd like to tell you” is somewhat mechanical. Group related advice together and use more natural transitions so the ideas develop as a connected letter rather than a short list.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range for an informal letter, including conversational expressions such as “alive and kicking” and “Much love,” as well as relevant terms such as “wild animals” and “booking.” These choices make the tone friendly and the message easy to understand. There are some spelling and word-choice inaccuracies, including “hoiday” and “aboout,” and “varied experiences” is too general to convey what makes camping appealing. “On camp-site” is also an unnatural collocation. Aim for more precise camping-related vocabulary and check spelling and natural word combinations; for example, name activities or experiences rather than referring broadly to “varied experiences.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and more complex forms, including the reason clause “as there might be rain” and the conditional construction “if I'd not have to submit my first project.” Most sentences communicate your meaning, but some grammatical choices are inaccurate. In particular, “I'd suggest you to definitely go for it” should be “I'd suggest that you definitely go for it” or “I'd advise you to go for it.” The conditional about joining also needs a more suitable form, such as “if I didn't have to submit my first project.” Capitalise “I” consistently, and check articles and prepositions in phrases such as “on camp-site.” More accurate control of these patterns would improve clarity.
