Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You address the main points: you say camping could be enjoyable because you can “make memories,” prepare food, see nature and play games, mention money and parental permission as disadvantages, and indicate that you would go with Ali. However, the advice is only minimally developed. The disadvantages are listed without explaining how they might affect the trip or how to manage them, and your willingness to go is not stated clearly until the final sentence. The letter also lacks a clear closing and does not consistently sound like a complete, natural letter to a friend. To strengthen the response, explain each point briefly and make your decision to join your friend explicit and easy to identify.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is a basic sequence from responding to Ali’s plan, to describing enjoyable activities, and then mentioning difficulties. This gives the reader a general sense of the message. However, ideas are not arranged into clear paragraphs, and several points repeat: “make memories” appears more than once, while “very happy to see your letter” is repeated. Connections between ideas are often unclear, as in “we will do fun together we do camping,” and repeated “and” does not show the relationship between activities. Use separate paragraphs for the benefits, disadvantages and your decision, and connect ideas with clear, varied linking phrases. A conventional opening and closing would also help the letter feel more organised.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use a small set of relevant words and phrases, including “camping,” “memories,” “permission” and “difficulties,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, vocabulary is basic and repetitive, and several inaccurate word choices or collocations make parts difficult to interpret. For example, “this experience will joy us” does not express the intended meaning naturally, and “we will spent a day there” uses an unsuitable form in context. There are also frequent spelling errors, such as “hapy,” “palnning,” “honoustly” and “natuure,” which reduce clarity. Build a wider set of accurate expressions for outdoor activities and possible drawbacks, and check spelling and collocations carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response mainly uses simple statements and attempts to join ideas into longer sentences, but control is weak and errors occur throughout. For example, “i received your letter i am very glad” joins independent clauses without appropriate punctuation, while “you write that you are palnning” does not use the correct tense for a past letter. Verb forms are also inaccurate in “we will spent” and “we wil go,” and sentence boundaries are often missing. Capitalisation and punctuation are inconsistent, including the lowercase “i” and the absence of a clear final sentence. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then combine them using conjunctions and punctuation; check tense and verb forms in each sentence.
