Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Rahul,

I hope you are doing well. I heard you are planning to go camping this year during your summer break. I am so excited to hear that because you were waiting for your vacation for a really long. However, your idea of going to Rajasthan is really good in summer, but I should tell you it is going to be excessively warm this summer. Being your good friend, I must tell you to pack your clothes wisely so you will not suffer in the bad heat.

In addition, you can enjoy the great scenery and peaceful environment of the place. The one downside of the trip would be the area is quite big and there will be highly possibility to get lost in those jungles without a guide or navigator. Since India is my home place and I will be there in the same area around that time, I politely insist that you take me with you so I can guide you as a tour guide. I will tell you that my experience with camping and adventure activities is really terrific. By saying that, consider your dear friend as your tour guide or your companion for the upcoming adventure.

Yours truly,

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address all three points: you explain that Rahul may enjoy the scenery and peaceful surroundings, warn about the heat and the risk of getting lost, and clearly offer to join him. The advice to pack suitable clothes and take a guide is relevant. However, the reasons for enjoying the holiday are less developed than the disadvantages, and the warning about Rajasthan being very hot is not balanced with much detail about what makes camping there appealing. Your offer to accompany Rahul is clear, but the wording that you “politely insist” he take you sounds stronger than friendly advice. Develop each point more evenly and keep the tone consistently warm and natural to make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The letter has a clear overall sequence: it opens with a response to Rahul’s plans, moves to benefits and drawbacks, and ends with your offer to join him. Linking phrases such as “In addition” and “Since” help connect ideas, and the paragraphs broadly separate the opening from the main advice. Some connections are less smooth, however: “However” introduces the heat warning without a clear contrast, and “By saying that” does not naturally introduce the final invitation. The long second paragraph also combines scenery, safety concerns, your location, and your experience. Use clearer paragraph breaks and more precise transitions so each idea follows naturally and references remain easy to track.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range for a friendly letter, including relevant expressions such as “peaceful environment,” “downside,” “guide,” and “adventure activities.” These choices make the main message understandable, and you attempt some less common phrasing. At times, however, word choice and collocation are inaccurate or unnatural: “waiting for your vacation for a really long,” “highly possibility,” and “home place” do not sound idiomatic. “Excessively warm” is also rather formal for a letter to a friend, while “tour guide” is repeated. Aim for natural everyday collocations and vary repeated terms; this will make your vocabulary more precise and appropriate to the informal context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex forms, including the conditional “so you will not suffer” and the clause beginning “Since India is my home place.” Most of the message remains understandable, and errors rarely prevent the reader from following your advice. Some grammatical problems are noticeable, though. For example, “the area is quite big and there will be highly possibility” needs a clearer clause structure and a correctly formed noun phrase, while “waiting for your vacation for a really long” is incomplete. The sentence beginning “Since India is my home place” also creates an awkward connection to the following main clause. Review article use, noun forms, and sentence boundaries, while keeping the variety of structures you already attempt.
