Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Jas,

I hope you are doing well.I am writing this letter to give answer of your question which you asked yesterday about going for camping.

Firstly, I want to let you know that going for camping is good decision .You should go to overthere because it has numerouse benefits. You can refresh your mind and can learn new things about that particular place and environment. This is a preciuos time of life when you can relax from hectic life.

Secondly,Going for camping is beneficial but it has some drawbacks as well. I am suggesting you that do not spent too much days overthere because it can increase your expenses and may disturbed your progressive life. As you know we have just one week holidays so spend quality of time with your family as well. Family is most important for us.

Lastly, You also asked about me .I am feeling sorry and unable for going with you because I have to go to marrige party for three days out of town . I hope you will enjoy alot during camping time.

Your Lovingly,

Satveer Kaur

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address all three points in the task: you explain that camping could refresh your friend and offer new experiences, mention possible costs and time away from family, and clearly say you cannot join because of a wedding party out of town. The advice is relevant, and the letter has an appropriate friendly purpose. However, some ideas are less fully developed than others. For example, the benefits are described generally, without a specific camping activity or reason your friend personally might enjoy it. The disadvantages are also not entirely clear: the warning about spending too many days and affecting a “progressive life” is difficult to connect to camping. Explain practical drawbacks, such as weather, insects, or basic facilities, and make the advice more specific.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter has a clear overall arrangement, with an opening followed by paragraphs signposted “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “Lastly.” This makes the three main parts easy to locate, and the ideas generally progress from benefits to drawbacks and then your availability. The closing also suits a personal letter. To make the organisation more natural and cohesive, rely less on numbered transitions and connect related ideas more smoothly. For instance, the sentence about spending time with family follows the warning about camping expenses, but the relationship between these points is not explained. Some references, such as “overthere” and “that particular place,” are also vague. Use clearer links and refer directly to the camping trip or destination.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main message, including phrases such as “refresh your mind,” “hectic life,” “drawbacks,” and “quality of time.” There are also attempts to use less common expressions, but several choices or spellings are inaccurate and sometimes make the meaning less clear. For example, “progressive life” does not naturally express the idea of disrupting someone’s routine, while “precious time of life” is awkward in this context. Spelling errors such as “numerouse,” “preciuos,” and “marrige” are noticeable. Aim for precise, natural collocations and check spelling; choosing familiar accurate wording is more effective than using an unusual phrase incorrectly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including “I am suggesting you that do not spent too much days overthere because it can increase your expenses.” However, control is uneven, and errors in sentence construction, verb forms, articles, and punctuation recur. Examples include “give answer of your question,” “do not spent,” “may disturbed,” and “I am feeling sorry and unable for going with you.” Several sentences also run together because spaces after full stops are missing, as in “doing well.I am writing.” These issues sometimes make the reader pause to interpret your meaning. Practise accurate advice structures (“I suggest that you…”) and check verb forms and sentence boundaries when proofreading.
